My holiday spoons are fickle. #MySpoons
Yesterday - the day after I ran out of my pain meds - I pulled a muscle behind my boob.

Thank goodness #spoonie Twitter was here to rescue me.
But now I get to spend Christmas

- in more pain than usual
- with more #painsomnia
- and less medication & other methods of easing the pain
It was a little cute in the beginning, that being sick would give me the occasional benefit of getting me out of what I thought were obligations.

That got old quick.
Once every three months or so getting to skip a line or stay home from something I don’t want to go to - it doesn’t make up for the unrelenting pain.

Nothing will.
Even if it wasn’t pain. Or depression or fatigue. Or so often all at once.

Just the way people and institutions treat sick people and disabled people. Not worth it.
And it’s not about hurt feelings. It’s not even just about us not getting what we need.
Our nation is not well. A well peoplewould not stand for ill people being routinely treated poorly.

This is in and of itself a malady.
Sht at least I *know* I’m ill. Instead of hating cotton or magenta or something else completely unrelated to it?

I can heal and grow and ... deal.
How the hell does America heal and thrive without knowing it's not even ill.

Broken. It's broken and puttering along unaware that it isn't working.
Anyway. Please don't push yourself to do anything out of obligation today.

Or even desires that aren't worth the pain they'll cause.
Merry Christmas.
