Something folks need to understand is my insights on Kubernetes come from running it at massive scale (See Unimatrix: tech.target.com/infrastructure…), where infrastructure and applications need to be predictable.
Eliminating the app dependency on the fact that it’s running in Kubernetes allows apps to evolve separately from the infrastructure. This is so critical to scale because we need to evolve/change/adapt that underlying infra without involving 1,000 app dev teams.
We follow these same principles in the datacenter and cloud to garner similar benefits. It’s what let’s us move quickly and evolve, while drastically reducing the time between infrastructure lifespans.
