(1/21) The 2017-18 @HouseGOP had plenty of indictments, #GOPCorruption, and ethical breaches (see my 21-tweet-thread: ). Now meet House GOP freshmen being sworn in on 1/3/19. With their baggage, they'll fit right in.

#CultureOfCorruption #GOPComplicit
(2/21) Ross Spano @RossSpano #FL15
In a clear violation of @FEC campaign finance regs, Spano funded his campaign with large, unreported loans from personal friends. Given the amt & his relatively narrow win margin, it's shocking he is even being seated. (…)
(3/21) Anthony Gonzalez @anthonygonzalez #OH16
In another flouting of @FEC regulations, Gonzalez faced scrutiny for apparently (and illegally) colluding with a supportive Super PAC that was funded solely by - wait for it - Gonzalez's father! (…)
(4a/21) Tim Burchett @timburchett #TN02
While Knox County Mayor, Burchett had numerous complaints filed against him, including for violating nepotism laws and letting supporters on the public payroll get paid while not on the job (…), AND...
(4b/21) Tim Burchett @timburchett #TN02, continuedx1
...Burchett was also scrutinized for misusing public funds at a charity event and hiding financial conflicts of interest between his stock holdings & his state legislative duties. (…)
(4c/21) Tim Burchett @timburchett #TN02, continuedx2
Seriously, read both articles on Burchett & the myriad complaints highlighted. Burchett is a frontrunner to be a future face of GOP corruption. How did this corrupt bozo win his primary?! This joker seems ridiculously for sale.
(5/21) Greg Pence @GregPenceIN #IN06
Not only did Pence, Mike's brother, drive his business to bankruptcy, but his bank "was forced to sue him to recover $3.8M in debts that he had personally guaranteed, only to have to settle for pennies on the dollar." (…)
(6/21) Guy Reschenthaler @reschenthaler #PA14
Carl Higbie wrote a book espousing racism, homophobia & xenophobia, the foreword for which Reschenthaler wrote. He feebly tried to seek cover by claiming he hadn't read the book when he wrote the foreword. (…)
(7/21) Chip Roy @chiproytx #TX21
Roy oversaw Ted Cruz's Super PAC network while disgraced data firm Cambridge Analytica worked for Cruz. Roy has refused to answer questions about what he knew about Cambridge Analytica's deceptive practices. (…)
(8/21) Pete Stauber @PeteStauber #MN08
In an *actual* #ButHisEmails situation, Stauber violated St. Louis County government policy when he used his government e-mail to solicit political opposition research from the GOP's House campaign arm, the NRCC. (…)
(9/21) Lance Gooden @Lancegooden #TX05
Major quid pro quo alert: as a state legislator, Gooden passed special interest legislation helping businessman Monty Bennett, who put hundred$ of thousand$ (…) into a Super PAC backing Gooden. (…)
(10/21) Jim Hagedorn @JimHagedornMN #MN01
As a blogger/commentator, Hagedorn has a long, shocking history of sexism, racism & homophobia, as well as comments mocking wounded soldiers, Muslims, Mormons, etc. I'm incredulous that he won, however narrowly. (…)
(11/21) Mark Green @DrMarkGreen4TN #TN07
Appealing to a recklessly dangerous corner of society, Green embraces and promotes discredited anti-vaccine (anti-vaxxer / vaccine truther) conspiracies. (…)
(12/21) Dan Meuser @Meuser4Congress #PA09
Expect Meuser to spew ridiculous bombast. Recent highlights:
-Meuser lied & denied he told his opponent to "go to hell," then admitted it (…)
-he called liberals a greater threat than ISIS (…)
(13/21) Steve Watkins @Steve4Kansas #KS02
Watkins may be a pathological liar. Episodes include:
-the company he claimed to have built from scratch (…)
-Trump support he didn't have (…)
-alleged heroic exploits (…)
(14/21) Greg Steube @gregsteube #FL17
Steube has also had a flexible relationship with the truth. Minor slip-ups peppered his past (…); but, he stepped it up when he was caught reportedly exaggerating his military service. (…)
(15/21) Kelly Armstrong @Armstrong_ND #NDAL
Calling to mind former S. Dakota Rep. Bill Janklow who killed someone with his car, Armstrong was convicted of a DUI in Virginia & followed that up with a guilty plea for texting while driving in North Dakota. (…)
(16/21) Carol Miller @CarolMillerWV #WV03
Miller has such an obscenely shallow grasp of any issue, she ducked debates, refused media interviews, and boiled her positions down to word fragments (e.g. pro-coal, pro-flag, pro-Christian). So cynically vapid. (…)
(17/21) Mark Harris** @MarkHarrisNC9 #NC09
Harris won't be sworn in on 1/3/19 as his "victory" was not certified after it came out his campaign engaged in election fraud, tampering with many hundreds of absentee ballots. A new election is very likely. (…)
(18/21) While #BlueWave washed out many ethically questionable @HouseGOP members in 2018, these new House Republicans are just as rife with conflicts of interest, just as devoid of a moral compass, just as willing to misuse funds, belittle populations, and lie their asses off.
(19/21) Some of these listed freshman House GOP members won with very narrow margins of victory:
#MN01 Hagedorn 0.4%
#KS02 Watkins 1.7%
#TX21 Roy 2.6%
#MN08 Stauber 5.5%
#FL15 Spano 6.0%
#NC09 Harris **?

No doubt, these districts will be heavily targeted by Democrats in 2020.
(20/21) Though Kevin McCarthy may be the House's Republican "leader" in name, the actual House GOP leader in practice is Donald Trump. House Republicans old & new will continue to copy his corrosive, cruel divisiveness and willful dishonesty.
(21/21) #GOPCorruption and a #GOPComplicit to the #TrumpCrimeSyndicate will remain key themes. For ongoing GOP #CultureOfCorruption & other political news, good follows include @CREWcrew @waltshaub @CBHolman @NormEisen @RWPUSA @thinkprogress @Taniel & @hellofasandwich.
