🍾🥳🎉🇺🇸🎨Looking back - highlights of oil paintings I did in 2018 - many of you haven't seen these, but if you have- does this take you back to what you were feeling when I was sharing these? So much happened in 2018. Like "Right to Try" bill... (last tweet will say end thread)
2) Remember this? I painted this scene because I thought that @FLOTUS looked like she was walking through a painting in her yellow dress. This seems like it happened a long time ago. 2018 was eventful!
3) My oil painting of a lighthouse is one of my favorite projects this year. It captures the emotions we've shared in 2018. Make sure your sound is up, the music sets the mood. When I see this again, I remember how I was feeling when I painted this...and how I still feel this way
4) 2018 wasn't all melancholy, sometimes it felt optimistic, relaxed... there were times when we felt that... "everything's going to be OK - in fact, it already IS". My oil painting of a waterfall captures the mellow vibe that slipped in and out of 2018 - days of confidence.
5) 2018 signs of positivity. I was inspired to paint this delightful graffiti on the pier at Tybee Island, GA. I don't know story behind this (student?), but it made me happy - even happier when I glimpsed a shadow & turned to see my daughter taking pic of this at same time I was
6) To be clear, I'm not graffiti artist for beach painting - just inspired by it. Good to see Americans happy. Many wins 2018. But also losses. My painting inspired by seeing destruction, returning home after evacuation. Peach trees lost in hurricane, but some remain & sun returns
7) Another 2018 hurricane story - local police officers rescued this roadside American flag from flood waters; flag has been a favorite landmark on the only road to/from Tybee Island, GA. They knew that people would look for this special sign of home during return from evacuation
8) While some of us had hurricanes, others had devastating fires in 2018. Through tragic storms & devastating hardships, good people became heroes. Whether someone's job to be heroic, or an average citizen stepped up - bravery, courage, & selflessness makes us humbled, grateful.
9) We were also *ANGRY* in 2018 - and when we spoke about our reasons why we don't trust those in power, why we suspect that we were/are harmed by our own gov, even offering proof of this... we were(are) censored. I painted this to express how I feel when I am silenced.
10) Video failed when I painted "silenced" art - serendipitous. I don't think I was meant to share it. Very dark painting experience: I morphed my own face from that of Hitler to the final, of me gagged. Symbolic of abhorrent lies, character def comparing me/us to Nazis. But...
11) While the experience expressed what I felt (I was on list for mob to go after & they DID. No justice. My grandpa was decorated WW2 veteran - I am NOT a Nazi!). Regardless, painting was too dark & disturbing. It's not who I am. So I'm glad it's gone. I can't let them change me
12) We were angry in 2018 - & silenced - but we will never give up. We will fight. Truth wins. God wins. Symbolism is in our faces everywhere we look. My oil painting of an eagle taking down an owl represents that this is a spiritual battle. And we are winning. I share this often
13) 2018 was also a year of grief, as more tragic truth, arrests, public disclosure: Crimes Against Children. Our greatest heartache. Children, worldwide - here, there, and across our porous borders, abused in horrific unspeakable evil ways. I painted this to express our sorrow.
14) 2018 was a roller-coaster ride of anger, grief, and pure insanity at times... but funny how animals don't care about any of our human drama. I painted this wonderful charismatic sea turtle, an animal rescue named Matthew. Matthew has since been released back into the wild.
15) 2018 art continues... painted this marvelous living creature - sand dollar - fascinating simple sea life w great symbolism & amazing "coincidence" markings & perfect doves inside. Living sand dollars provide feeling of peace, their fossils do too. A treasure, alive & beyond.
16) 2018 was emotionally chaotic, yet... seasons come & go - always on time, never early, never late. Weather may vary, but time passes. Seasons change. Spiritually, physically... we have this assurance: This too shall pass. Our fears and trials don't last forever. There is joy.
17) 2018 brought extreme highs and lows... moves and counter moves. When I painted this one, we were collectively feeling lighter in spirit. It felt like a long summer had ended & optimism rose. Tax cuts, lower gas prices, bills passed... we hoped justice was close at hand.
18) Unfortunately, our positive autumn vibes were met w fierce hostility - as USA descended into hideous mob rule, lies, vulgar displays, mockery of courts, Congress as vindictive revolting Mean Girls - titillating farce & disgrace. I painted this tribute to the family's courage.
19) Still, we headed into Thanksgiving feeling blessed for what we have - the people we love, the moments we hold dear. No one can steal our love, hope, and joy. We had many days in 2018 when we encouraged each other to ignore the hatred, ignore the attacks, ignore the lies. Love
20) @FLOTUS created beautiful Christmas display @WhiteHouse - immediately, this was attacked by people of societal influence, who are meant to be on side of we American people - raise us least let us enjoy Christmas. But no, they betray us again. It's up to us. See beauty
21) 2018 was highly dramatic & eventful. I painted too many projects to share them all. I hope you've enjoyed the journey. My art is seen by few people, so I appreciate your help in sharing it. I pledge to push myself harder in 2019 & I have exciting plans for the year ahead.
22) ❤️Christmas show - me singing w/my daughters. My other threads are here too - notes I take during church, brutally honest thoughts re: communist takeover in 🇺🇸, oil paintings. We're in this together. Looking forward to 2019. God bless you! /end thread/…
