Today is a good day to remind every American that CONGRESS is supposed to be the most powerful branch of government, not a slave to a demagogic president's every whim. #116thCongress #SpeakerPelosi
Indeed, there was a time period in US history when the Speaker of the House was about to become the leader-in-all-but-name of the US government with the President just a figurehead; a series of "strong" Presidents and weak Speakers consolidated power in the Executive, however.
President Trump is a very weak leader. He's whimsical, ignorant and unfocused.

Congress over the past two years could have increased its power at the expense of the Executive if it so choose; Congressional Republican leaders, however, instead chose to be even weaker than Trump.
Regardless, the Presidency is too powerful. There should not be that much power vested in one person; it's long-past time for Congress to take back the powers it (willfully) surrendered to the Oval Office.

(And yes, I believed this during Obama's tenure, too.)
