Term limits is a popular solution to an obvious problem, career politicians.

Many, perhaps most, people I greatly respect currently support term limits.

Limiting terms is a mistake. There is another way to achieve the desired cure.

Our government problems are systemic. The original design has been tampered with by unqualified technicians.
We must repair the current damage.
In 1913, among many other things, the 17th amendment was passed.
The intention was to cure deadlock issues in states leaving senate seats vacant for prolonged periods. Rather than affording the governor the appointment after the legislator fails to act after a set time period, direct vote is enshrined in the constitution...
Sounds good, nothing wrong with that, right?

Besides it up ended the entire republic destroying the delicate balance between the several sovereign states and the FEDERAL government, not too much.
The senate, smaller, long term deliberative body of equal representation per states, was the states connection into the federal government.

A connection the 17th severed. Completely.
James Madison encapsulated the genius of the original system in Federalist 62, “No law or resolution can now be passed without the concurrence first of a majority of the people, and then of a majority of the states” the house, then senate.
To repeal the 17 amendment would install defacto term limits in the senate. Couple repeal with reforms, I suspect term limits will take care of themselves.
▫️End congressional insider trading. While serving our nation, any public holdings are held in trust or similar.

▫️Immediate family barred from federal contracts. Period. No exceptions. Parents, spouses and children.

▫️No more pensions. None.
The Gipper himself opposed term limits. Let’s restore original order and remove the financial incentive to remain in office beyond genuine service to our nation.
It's true. 12:30 in cuts right to term limits. About 10 minutes in Gerrymandering is discussed. Interesting post-presidency interview.

Food for thought.
Let’s not make another well intentioned mistake, let’s undo previous well intentioned mistakes and see who that works first.

Repeal the 17th amendment!

Restore the republic! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
