20+ years ago, a guy who disagree with me copied Ruby repo & replaced my name in copyright notices. He wanted his version of the lang. Technically it was license violation but I didn't say anything. I was curious about his ideas. No move for months. The repo disappeared. 1/
I have never met him since. But I am sure he realized the complex design constraints of the language only when he was responsible to every change he make. I named it 'xruby syndrome' after his fork of the language. 2/
In the history of the Ruby language, some forms of xruby syndrome happened many times. It is easy for you to complain (without considering constraints). You feel better. No cost. But it doesn't help the community. It's how Python lost Guido (I think). 3/
