The decision to give President CAPSLOCK yet more free air time to spew his BS is, at first blush, both cowardly and wrong. Pusillanimous network execs are clearly afraid of MAGA blowback if they don't yield.

1/ HOW they allow Trump to use the free airtime is critical. They could, for example, stop the live broadcast after the first lie, cut to anchor to ID the lie, and then stop and start the rest of the way.

They could run it on delay and ID lies on a split screen.
2/ They could cut away after the first lie, ID it, and then resume regular programming.

All of this would humiliate Trump. Indeed, the potential for Trump to humiliate himself tonight is VAST.
3/ The plan, presumably, is to spew bile at the Dems and argue for the necessity of the patently unnecessary and stupid wall.

Is President Adderall capable of doing that without presenting as a coked-up madman?
4/ What if Trump tries to blame the shutdown on the Dems, and the networks immediately cut to the clip of him proudly claiming responsibility for the shutdown?

An honest intro to the broadcast, explaining his role in shutdown and the inanity of the wall, would also help.
5/ I mean, who wrote the speech? Stephen Fucking Miller? He’s not exactly Cicero. And Trump is barely literate enough to read off a teleprompter. Too, nine at night is likely the worst time of day for him to attempt something like this.
6/ A third of the country will drink liquid cleanser from below the sink if Trump tells them to on tonight’s broadcast. Another third will despise him no matter what he says or does. It’s the other third that matters.
7/ How will the middle third respond to a poorly-written, poorly-executed speech full of obvious BS? Remember, people tend to HATE political fights. Trump yammering about Chuck & Nancy will not appeal to most Americans.
Point is: yes, Trump got his free airtime. But he still has to execute. Pressure’s on him now. It’s a lot of pressure. And President Apoplexy is not known for grace under pressure. He will crumple like a spent beer can at a frat party.
