I am not Jewish. My beautiful husband is. I was not bullied, beaten or stabbed for being Jewish, as he was. I do not see the infinite grief of the Holocaust in my family photos. I do not have to justify my existence to those who carry a hatred so old, it is ordinary. /1
But recently I've had a glimpse into how it feels to be Jewish in a place that cares little for me. Antisemitism is at record levels. Street attacks, vandalism of synagogues, desecration of graveyards. Online hate oozes from every pore of the Internet. /2
Jewish ppl are under attack from every direction, from right to left. The most painful for me is what's coming from the left. My chosen home, politically, culturally and socially. It feels like the upstanders have abandoned us. /3
I see the Holocaust described as a 'hoax', conspiracies that Jews were behind Britain's wars, council candidates saying "teachers are brainwashing us and our children into thinking the bad guy was Hitler." I see it over and over and I weep. /4
The evidence is stark. Yet people I called friends have dismissed me. People I called allies have denied, attacked, deflected, minimised and stayed silent. The silence is the worst. /5
So I make this appeal for you to speak out, speak loudly and speak often. Get educated. Antisemitism mutates like a cancer and its had 1000s of years to evolve. Get involved.

Let the silence be consumed by all our voices. #BeLouder /6
The reality is that antisemitism does exist in the left and it's spreading. That's a painful thing to face. Yet face it we must. No problem was ever solved by denying it. #ActiveAllies /7
Hold that fact there, in front of you. Strip it bare and stare at it head on. Be sad, be angry, be scared, be resolved. Embrace empathy and reach out to those affected. To me, to my family, to others who might be feeling abandoned and isolated.

And love them. /8
