I was just leaving the grocery & as I went to put up the cart & there was a homeless veteran sitting near the carts in the cold. He was just staring at a quarter that was in his hand. I pulled out what cash I had, about $20 & held his hand & said thank you for your service. 1/
It was fucking heart wrenching. What I don't understand is why Veterans are not taken care of for life like the House, the Senate and the President are. #Veterans sacrifice their lives for our freedom and they come home to get tossed in the streets. 2/
We would not have a Democracy if we did not have men and women that have given their lives to serve our Country. Veterans should be held in the highest regard. They should have housing and benefits for life. I will never forget his face. It is seared into my heart. 3/
