Is this correct?
Let's examine this from the scriptures
Matt28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
It was said by Jesus after he resurrected from the grave and was about to ascend into heaven.
To know if this is what He actually said, let's look at the other gospels.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned"
There is NO mention of being baptised in the name of the Father, Son & HolyGhost.
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached IN HIS NAME among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Here it says, In HIS name.
John 20:31 "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life THROUGH HIS NAME"
His name again.
In the original text, according to Eusebius who was the church historian and bishop of Caesarea, Jesus's actual words were:
"Go and make disciples of all nations IN MY NAME"
Let's further examine the text in the Greek.
Following the lingual construct of the text, how are disciples made? By teaching or indoctrination. The next words of Jesus should contain what the disciples are to be taught and that's in the next verse
Jesus clearly shows them how disciples are to me made and the kind of teaching needed.
Next question is, what did the disciples do?
Let's examine some verses
Just follow, there are more
Acts 8:16 "For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS"
Acts 19:5 "When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus"
Rom 6:3 "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into JESUS CHRIST were baptized into his death?"
Gal 3:27 "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Hold on, one last one
Notice none of the disciples baptised in the name of the Father, Son and HolyGhost.
Only the name of Jesus saves.
How then should the text have been rendered?
Go ye into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them IN MY NAME...
And by baptism here, it's not talking about water baptism. It refers to "indoctrination".
