the american experience: going to the social media profile of a perfectly kind-seeming person you just met, look around, and find a photo of them happily popping off an assault rifle at a range, and then wondering what you know about who you know. who you can be safe around.
"people's interests don't have to define them", folks will say. but with the amount of death around us, how much of the blame falls at the feet of those who are afraid? what does it say about a person for them to wear that hobby visibly with pride? the questions linger, silently.
increasingly, to survive, you can't /not/ think about it. you can't /not/ see somebody's bumper stickers and wonder if they'll try to kill you on a bad day.

neurotic? maybe. unjustified, or paranoid? ask the body count.
