1. Contemplate Twitter.

Social media platforms are metaphors for human connection and expansive thought. They are nothing more or less.

They DO NOT define our true identity.

They are like a test: Will we describe someone's past or will we declare someone's future?

2. Contemplate Twitter.

New friends require a context for friendship. Think: dancing, cricket, baseball, football, music, church, political movement or a pub discussion.

All conversations flow from the permissions we give to our relationships.

3. But all conversations have boundaries. Free speech is not what we think it is. I can't say whatever I want in church or in a pub. I cannot criticise people without consequence. I cannot do a nude-run without arrest.

Neither will my mates listen ill-informed conversation.
4. Contemplate Twitter.

What should be honoured then?
A) Free speech?
B) Friendships that have been agreed to?

Why am I losing so many followers every day?

Blocking my speech is obvious.
Blocking connections with my new friends is a violation of human rights.
5. Why am I sad when I am separated from a new friend?

We had a unique agreement to 'connect' and to share information. This was an intimate agreement. It was between us.

Constrained speech I can understand, but being told WHO my friends are...
6. Contemplate Twitter.

No one tells me WHO I will follow.
No one tells me WHO I will chat to.
No one tells me WHAT to think.

@Jack you have failed your responsibility.
