"What's changed, because it ain't the guns?"

"It's the availability of high powered semiautomatic "assault weapons"."

"The #2A needs to change with technology."

I'm going to spell this out clearly for #GunSense #guncontrol

"Assault weapon" is a fear mongering term.
Semiautomatic weapons are over 130 years old now, 1885, and have been in continuous mass production for over 100 years. Ar-15's are over 60 years old, and have been available for civilian ownership for nearly as long. The AR-15 was sold to civilians before the military
even adopted the M-16. Now that we have a time line of the weapons let's look at another interesting fact. The NICS program went into law in 1993 and was put into action by the FBI in 1998. This means that before any standard background checks were operational
it was entirely possible to walk in and of a store in mere minutes with a multitude of semiautomatic rifles/handguns for nearly 100 years without any sort of check, AR-15's being 40 years. So you're idea "the #2A needs updating because of technology" shipped at sail
130 years ago.

But I will ask again:

What changed, because it wasn't the guns?
