My new column is up!

It's not that DNC Media is *making up more stories* than ususal. They are being deliberately fed fake leaks so they can speed up the shredding of their own credibility. Somebody is targeting DNC Media with strategic fake leaks.

Trump & his campaign team were targeted with fake leaks during the 2016 election. Once he won the election, the pace of the fake leaks targeting him picked up.

It took awhile, but now Trump his team are RETURNING THE FAVOR by feeding fake leaks right back to the media.
The *clearest* example of a leak trap using a fake document was that CNN story last year about the Don Jr. email where supposedly multiple people saw the *wrong* date on it.

They weren't lying, they did see an email with the Sept. 4 date. That was the leak marker, a fake doc.
For the past few months media outlets like The Guardian and McClatchy News got 'scoops' from anonymous sources they implicitly trusted, about Manafor sneaking into an embassy in the UK and Cohen's cell phone being pinged in Prague.
After having plenty of stories blow up on them, you'd think many of these outlets would be gun shy at this point just taking an anonymous source's word for it.

That tells me these media outlets place a LOT of trust in these sources.
As with this latest Buzzfeed fiasco, in the Guardian's Manafort story or McClatchy's cell phone ping story, the reporters never SEE any documents or evidence; they simply take their sources' word for it.
If at *this point* they are gonna go ahead and hit that 'publish' button having *seen* nothing that tells me they are placing one HELL of a level of trust in the sources.
There are only a few possibilities here.

1) the sources didn't really see what they claimed, they lied.
2) the sources did see what they claimed they saw, but the documents were fakes
BOTH of these possibilities lead straight to sources that are either compromised or have been flipped and either way, are now feeding their media contacts fake leaks.
Turnabout is fair play. These media hacks spent all of the 2016 election passing on leaks targeting Trump & his people that they knew were fake to try to take them out. Once Trump took office they stepped up their fake leaking attacks on him and his team.
AND NOW IT'S THEIR TURN. Now DNC Media itself is the targets of fake leaks that keep *telling them what they so desperately want to hear* and so they keep falling for this over and over and over again.
Next week there will be a new bombshell story fed to some DNC Media outlet where once again the reporters will have seen NOTHING, no documents, no evidence at all, but that source is GOLD and so they'll eagerly hit that 'publish' button again.
And then we'll all have fun watching that story blow up in their faces yet again.

2019 is just getting started. It's gonna be SO MUCH FUN!

The high comedy of that @BuzzfeedBen and @a_cormier_ appearance on @brianstelter's @ReliableSources is going to be hard to top.

They couldn't, like, get into any details about why they didn't see any actual EVIDENCE for the claims they were making in that report b4 publishing.
I know we're all supposed to have gotten used to the fact this is how 'journalism' is now done, reporters don't have to see any real evidence before publishing stories, they just need at least 2 anonymous sources 'confirming' what they supposedly saw.
But I still can't quite get used to it. Maybe I'm old fashioned, just not cut out for the hip sophisticated digital media that keeps stepping on it's own dick over and over again and is now having to fire a bunch of their staff.
