I am so fucking tired of the fucking lie that my engagement with Doctor Who (or any other media) is based primarily on whether or not I agree with its politics. It's so demonstrably not true, and the most feeble straw man of how engaging with the politics of art works.
I mean, look over my work. You'll find zero engagement with the bulk of ostentatiously lefty and queer friendly media. I've never touched Steven Universe, Glow, Pose, or any of that.
You will find extended engagements with Hannibal, a show about cops and heroic serial killers. You'll find Game of Thrones, a show about aristocratic heroism. You'll find that I had way more time for Kerblam! than I did Rosa.
I do not look to art to validate my politics. I never have. That's a recipe for middling, facile art and confused, impotent politics. That doesn't mean I don't engage with the politics of art, but if you think that engagement is pass/fail grading you're a fucking idiot.
Hell, look at my actual book about politics, where I go to excruciating lengths to treat clowns like Mencius Moldbug fairly and honestly represent their perspectives instead of just going "HOLY FUCK HE THINKS BLACK PEOPLE MAKE GOOD SLAVES" and calling it a book.
Aside from the fact that they're broadly leftist I doubt more than a handful of people could articulate the actual details of my politics. I speak of them almost wholly in the negative.
