This is one of the most racist bigoted sequence of paragraphs I have ever read about film. This is from the piece where dude called Spike’s nomination an “affirmative action Oscar.”
First of all, this person thinks calling films “Black themed” and “gay themed” as “political taints” is reasonable film categorization. Like...don’t write about film if this makes sense to you. Do something else.
Second, by his own logic A Star Is Born escapes being called “White themed” but he also thinks that film is apolitical. A film where there’s substance abuse, suicide, capitalization & hypervisibility of artistic production, abuse, therapy...is ‘apolitical’ as long as White.
He thinks critique of Cheney is irrational. “Witless.” HOW FOOL? Did you see that vice presidency in real time or were you drunk for eight years?
And he’s upset about the “evolving group of voters” as the demographics of the Academy is changing since #OscarsSoWhite. And thinks more WoC/PoC/WW aren’t open-minded/intelligent enough to watch a film like Cold War.

That’s rich. Considering WE more open-minded than him on film.
The best part is he couldn’t even think of good slander for Black Panther. Calling the film “tedious” when he means “Ryan Coogler directs circles around my antiblack brain.” That’s a word you use for “uppity niggers.” FOH.
To suggest BlacKkKlansman would only be getting an “affirmative action” Oscar. Ok let’s look at “affirmative action” and how racists use phrase to mean “inferior PoC” vs “greedy pathological racists finally have to reduce their consumption/control of everything in their paths.”
Chile if he think conservative ass BlacKkKlansman is too radical then I guess Sorry To Bother You will make his head explode lmao.🤣🤣🤣
I do not take you seriously as a writer or thinker if you think Whiteness is apolitical and films should strive for apolitical stories. It means YOU lack analysis and shouldn’t write about film. “Stop adding politics to film!” headass. Such bigoted underdeveloped chickenshit.🤢
Another thing that came to mind. This is not Spike’s first nomination (only as Best Director it is). Also he got a Governors Award from the Academy as well. This is decades long of a career being treated by this writer as inexperience and guilt-driven favoritism. Sure, Jan.
To me, a quality criticism of Spike would tackle conservative (lower case C) themes or critique how he handles gender (uh...in film and some commentary off the set) over time. And suggest Malcolm X was the film for the Oscar if BlacKkKlansman is not. THAT.
