There are a multitude of more qualified men & women. Also, I’m at a point where I consider myself friendly to the SBC but have no desire to be a part of denomination. Wiling to encourage, walk alongside, spur on; not interesting in being a part. I’ve seen & experienced too much.
I was there as the benefit of the confederate flag was debated between white people as if I didn’t exist & wasn’t in the room. And as if black Christians perspective didn’t matter. Was there w/ the Alt-right fiasco. Was there when Pence came & turned convention into a GOP rally.
It’s not healthy or dignifying for black people to have to beg white people to be valued and considered. It’s doubly not dignifying for black Christians to have to continually do that with other Christians. I consider the denomination unhealthy for African Americans.
I am part of a SBC church, I go to an SBC seminary, will always be tied to the SBC, but I won’t be planting/pastoring an SBC church in the future if the door ever opens to pastor.
