Fresh flowers at the monument to Dr. Theodor Neubauer at the University of Erfurt. Neubauer was murdered by the Nazis 74 years ago yesterday.
The University of Erfurt is on site of the GDR era Pädagogische Hochschule „Dr. Theodor Neubauer“ Erfurt/Mühlhausen which was named after the Communist Party member from 1969 onwards. Neubauer was repeatedly arrested by the Nazis and executed in 1945.
Theodor Neubauer was held up as a hero of the anti-fascist resistance in East Germany - along with the Hochschule in Erfurt, numerous streets across the GDR were renamed after him.

Rather than Holocaust denial, this is just straight up apologia for Nazi genocide.
And in addition to tacitly endorsing the murder of German Jews, this also says the murder of Sinti and Roma, homosexuals, the disabled, socialists, communists and the sterilization of the Afrodeutsch within Germany's borders was just fine.
Periodically I despair that these malicious idiots have more funding to spread this crap than most professional historians.

Interesting feedback from students on human rights history course: they would have wanted more readings on perspectives from Africa, Asia and from Islamic thinkers, as well as work about indigenous activism, and more specifically about Apartheid.

The number of victims of the Berlin Wall varies between 80 and 140 depending on how you understand what the Wall was and how it led to death. At the low end of the count is the definition based on those deliberately killed while trying to cross the border
An alternative reading of the Berlin Wall is to count all of those who died due to the existence of the Wall as a militarized border: this includes those killed who were not trying to cross the border, those who died as the result of accidents caused by the Wall's existence
