As we move closer and closer to election day, I must lend a philosophical thought to our future as a nation. I am going to address the issues the opposing voices have against PMB/PYO's govt. This is a thread: #NigeriaDecides
1. There is hunger in the land:
I refuse to accept this as a statement of fact. What I know has happened is this: We as a nation are being weaned (taking a baby off milk) off our excesses, but we are refusing to change our wasteful ways. There is scarcity of money but not hunger
2. Every one goes through a time of austerity in life. It builds character and an appreciation of what one has. It develops value systems that are good. I was a child in the 60s when rice was a luxury. We ate 'ofada' type rice on Sundays & on all days ate a rich array of staples
3. So if you tell me that rice is expensive, my answer to you would be a retort: Must you eat rice? With the Udoji madness came Uncle Bens Rice & we began a downward trend of acquiring a taste for foreign foods. Soon we began to import rice & adopted rice as our national food.
4. Is there hunger in the land? Not really. There is paucity of funds but smart people survive times of leanness. All of us have had to adjust. Necessity is the mother of inventions. My mother of blessed memory knew all the produce available per season so our family menu was....
5. built around such produce. When tomatoes are out of season we prepare soups that did not require pepper/tomato mix. We ate soups such as ogbonna (apon, in Yoruba), efo riro, ila asepo. This reduced money spent on condiments. We did not complain to Govt that things were hard.
6. We got on with life. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonades out of them. What I am saying is this, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. We will all survive hard times. We must survive it because we know that it is for our own good. This nation cannot .....
7. continue on the path of self-destruction. We are a nation of pretenders. Every Nigerian wants to use the most exotic of things, GWagon on poor roads (misplaced priorities), iphone that is more than their salaries in 2 years, heels as high as 10 inches on cobble stones....
8. Fake hair, Fake bums, fake boobs, fake eye lashes, fake love. Who do we expect to finance our lives of falsehood. When we have paucity of funds, instead of adjusting, we blame Govt for our foolish grandiose expectations. What do we think we have done to merit the expectations
9. @OfficialPDPNig created a culture of waste of resources & we all foolishly imbibed this. Women would save a lot monthly if they stopped the waste on making themselves into fake Chinese instead of Nigerians. Most men would save money that they waste encouraging idiocy of women
10. What PMB has done and is doing is to reset Nigeria to default mode so we can 'receive sense". There is no hunger in the land, there is hunger for those who are wasteful, lazy & refuse to recognise a need to change. Hate me if you like, but remember right now, that....
11. ...a new crop of millionaires are being born daily in this same Nigeria with the perceived hard times. These are the farmers, techpreneurs. These are the ones that have recognised that a new beat is playing and the dance steps must change & have changed their dance steps.
12. Where some people see problems, others see opportunities. These ones are not sitting down daily abusing the FGN that is doing its best and succeeding to provide infrastructure that will unleash the latent capacities and potentials of Nigeria for the general good. To be contd.
