Answers from Grievance Studies
Q: Why didn't the SJW left realize the error of its ways after Trump won the 2016 election?
A: Because Trump winning is considered evidence of a society in white supremacist, patriarchal crisis that needs grievance studies more than ever.
From within grievance studies, the election of Donald Trump is viewed as a vindication that American society is fundamentally corrupted by racism and sexism at epidemic levels, and active symbolic disruption of these entrenched power dynamics is the only remaining hope.
According to grievance theory, white supremacy and patriarchy are ideologies that white men, white women, etc. -- meaning those bearing privilege, as it applies -- are complicit in producing. Trump's election is viewed as an outbreak of fragility against social progress.
Grievance theory posits that those who have privilege cannot bear the thought of losing it (fragility) and are actively or passively complicit in an ideology (supremacy) to maintain and legitimize their own unearned advantage (privilege). This is how it sees Republican wins.
Luckily, we know we have precious little reason to trust grievance studies or its output. If only @TheDemocrats could get the message. I'd love to talk with them about this.
