Tonight I’m thinking of all the people in medicine who believe they are not part of the problem of gender discrimination in medicine.

It’s not just the Big Bosses in charge who perpetuate generation after generation of male-dominant advancement and leadership.
It’s the people who see the disparity and keep silent because it does it affect them / has helped them.

It’s the people - both men and women - who are elevated (often prematurely) precisely because they will not disrupt systems of bias and harassment.
It’s those who do not stop to be educated on these issues and then claim surprise when, for example, all the women and minorities walk out.

It’s those who cling to “but I never saw any problems; I thought things were generally fair and sunny!”
It’s those who are quick to jump on the “But she’s crazy/demanding/unreasonable/whiny/shrill” bandwagon whenever someone demonstrates the courage to bring up disparity.

Those same people bend over backwards to find a forgiving narrative for the perpetrators of inequity.
I am exhausted by you. I am disgusted by you. Enjoy your time comfortable in the patriarchy. Just know that in the new dispensation, others will stand up for you to the degree you stood up for them. / fin
