A reflection on this clip, on why i think Rabiu Kwankwaso has become so popular in Kano and why his support might turn out to be the most crucial thing as a determinant for who's going to win the election.

Thread.

Someone once asked me during the primaries that if i could hand pick a president, who would it be, i replied and said it'll either be Kwankwaso or Donald Duke. Reason why Donald Duke is simple, he understands the tourism economy and with the amount
of untapped potential in our tourism sector, he could finally be the one to Dubai-lize Nigeria by successfully turning us from a oil dependent country to a country that generates outstanding income from tourism, ripple effects of this is a stronger naira and more jobs. Simple.
Why Kwankwaso? First I'll give y'all a back story.

At a time, i had attended The Bells University, Ota. And we had this annual football competition. There was a team called Kwakwansiyya FC , mainly Hausa boys played in it. When i asked about the name, they said it was named
after their governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso. Woah, i thought you people really love your politicians, it's not like that in the SW where i come from, we'd certainly not name a uni school team after any of our governors, most of which i thought were useless at best.
The hausa guy told me, it is because you people don't have someone like Kwankwaso. There are more than 10 million families in Kano and every single one of them including all of us in this school, over 1000 students have felt his positive impact in our lives.
Another back story. I think in 2012, I'm not sure maybe 11. Suddenly alot of hausa people showed up in school, male and female. Continuing students like myself were surprised, we were asking ourselves, how come suddenly we have alot of hausa students out of nowhere.
As it turns out in the story told to me by the guy who i spoke to. They are all from Kano. And they had all (over 1000) won a scholarship to come study in a private university which fees ranged between 700k and 550k at the time, and it's not just school fees.
Their governor had bought them all phones and laptops, all meals paid for, they don't have to spend their own money on anything school related, they get monthly stipends. Basically all they had to do was show up and go to school, no personal expenses incurred.
Woah, i said to him, your governor is a good person, "and we are not the only ones he continued, we are just the ones that came here, others are in other schools spread across Nigeria, going to school for FREE and not 35k schools, schools that cost more than half a million.
Phones, laptops, meals, stipends all being paid to each and everyone of them by the governor. Right then and there i became a fan of Rabiu Kwankwaso, my parents had always drummed up the importance of education on me as people who never went to uni themselves.
My dad always moved with educated people, the relatives he's most proud to show off are the educated ones, he'll always introduce someone with their education qualification. This is James, oko Wemimo. He's a chartered accountant. Those were the kind of people he was proud to be
related to, and he never spared an expense on our (his children, male and female) education. I always tell people the best way to get money out of my dad is to tell him it's school related. But i digress.
"Over 10 million families in Kano, every single one of them had felt a positive impact including all of us here", so when you hear people chanting "Kwankwaso, Kwankwaso.." it's not some cult following rooted in ethnicity or place of birth. He's a man who has touched
the lives of us those people you hear chanting his name and i believe he deserves it. Politicians like him are rare, people who invest in their people especially in terms of education. He deserves the cult following. Why do i think he's the biggest determinant in the forthcoming
election in 5 days? Kano was previously projected as untouchable. Ganduje is the sitting governor and they have over 5 million registered voters, that is more than the SE combined. The #gandollargate had completely unmasked the sitting governor but even then he has a loyal
following. Enters Kwankwaso. Every winning presidential candidate has always won Kano, they have the largest registered voters. And in their millions they always seem to vote alike. The #Kwankwasiyya movement is the rave now and Ganduje knows which necessitated his actions
whereby he had to import crowd from Niger to come support Buhari. That's his only way of staying in the president's good book and the reason for his continued escape of prosecution despite what glaringly took place in those videos. But the support for Kwankwaso #Redcap movement
is as genuine as light of day, he had poured cold water forward and now he's stepping on cold ground comfortably, he had paid this support forward, he has educated and empowered the people of Kano and for that they love him and whoever he supports which is Atiku.
Atiku will sweep Kano and win this election comfortably. They know that, their final hope now is rigging. But the thing with rigging is you cannot rig a margin of 1m+.
You can rig a 2000 vs 3000 vote. You cannot rig one of 200,000 vs 2,000,000. It is just impossible. Which is why for our votes to count we have to actually go out and vote and leave the rest to Mathematics.

Vote Atiku/Obi for a Better Nigeria.
correction: the S.E has 10 million registered voters at 11.97% of total voting aggregate. More than Kano.

Statement should have read, more than some SE states combined.
