Back into flow. Read the S&S reboot; I think I did good with that one.

Now moving on to Mars’ Rich Livery (Kit Marlow ref; Regency Vampires). It’s in a rebuild draft. I’ve got the first half rebuilt; the second half is still old.

BUT

I’m reading, editing, writing.
Here’s a fun thing about the English language in 1815, and specifically the combination of English provincialism & the Napoleonic Wars: they were missing a lot of concepts and cultural references. Like... the concept of vampire.

There’s no communicable undead in English myths.
The word, and concept, hit the language in 1734, in a small press pamphlet that’s not far off from a basic blog (of the time).

But it doesn’t gain traction until... 1816 & the shittiest Swiss house party ever, the same one that produced Frankenstein.

Thank a volcano for that.
Yes, indeed, The Year Without a Summer gave us the foundation for most of the modern horror canon.

Also, the vampire stor(ies) from that little adventure in cabin fever are ... an example of emotional plagiarism? Because Byron & Polidori really got into each other’s heads.
