[Thread] In the aftermath of last week's suicide bombing that killed 27 Iranian soldiers & was carried out by a Pakistan-based terrorist group, senior Iranian military commanders have unprecedently condemned Pakistan & its intel service the ISI.

The implications may be profound.
The broader context behind their remarks is concern that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, & the Taliban are moving towards deeper alignment against #Iran, not unlike the 1990s.

Their comments inherently warn that Pakistan can become a new battleground between Iran & Saudi Arabia.
General Yahya Safavi, military aid to Ayatollah Khamenei, has said: "why this neighbouring country has turned into a safe haven and a place for the training and dispatch of these infidel terrorist groups (to Iran).”

Safavi: "Proof and evidence shows that these terrorist groups are financially sponsored by a number of Persian Gulf Arab states, including one whose crown prince is in Pakistan at present"—in reference to Saudi Crown Prince MBS, who arrived in Pakistan yesterday.
Safavi added: "Pakistan should also know that it should pay the cost for the Pakistani intelligence organization’s support for Jeish al-Zolm from now on and this price will no doubt be very heavy for them."
General Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of #Iran's Revolutionary Guards, has also called out Pakistan's ISI:

"Undoubtedly, the Pakistani security organization knows the hideout of the grouplets but it has kept mum."
These statements of warning by Iran's most senior military figures come as Mohammad bin Salman is in Pakistan & cementing deals that will make Pakistan more dependent on Saudi Arabia than it's ever been.
#Iranian concerns regarding #Pakistan have increased after reports that MBS wanted to meet #Taliban officials in Pakistan (which Taliban have since been forced to cancel after pressure from Afghan government).

Iran worries that the US/Saudi Arabia are trying to recreate 1990s strategy of encircling Iran using the Taliban.

This, of course, led to 9/11—but don't but put it past Trump & MBS to reboot such a dangerous & destabilizing alignment.
