Antisemitism is on the rise. So how can we be good allies to the Jewish community? I consulted my Jewish oracle, otherwise known as ‘hubby’, and this is what we came up with. /1 #ActiveAllies
First it's vital to listen to the voices of Jewish people who are describing their experiences of antisemitism. Seek out Jewish experts on AS and amplify their work in your networks. @daverich1 @deborahlipstadt @DavidHirsh /2 #ActivelyListen
AS is an ancient hatred. Jewish ppl have been forced to wear identifying clothing, to live and work in restricted areas, be a convenient scapegoat in times of upheaval. To be murdered on an industrial scale. Learn its history. /3 #GetEducated
AS tropes are recurring themes and ideas against Jewish ppl and Judaism. Early Christian Church scapegoating as 'Christ killers', blood libel, 'wandering Jew', 'all powerful Jew'.. They're viral conspiracy theories. Learn to spot them. /4 #KnowTheTropes
Jewish ppl often feel besieged. They can get weary of educating others. You can act to comfort, show solidarity or take on some of the challenge to combat AS yourself. Be mindful of not speaking over Jewish ppl, rushing them through emotions or tone policing. /5
Be cognisant of your conduct when speaking up. If you have a question do your own research first. Show solidarity by liking, retweeting and making empathetic comments. Don't be demanding of Jewish ppl’s attention or time. Do boost their work and voices. /6 #BeSensitive
Figure out what your strengths are and play to them. You're a teacher? Invite @HET to come to your school or use their resources. If you're online a lot, collect evidence of antisemitism and report it. What are your skills? Use what comes easy to tackle what is hard. /7 #BeLouder
Listen. Learn. Speak. Stand. Act.

Jewish friends and family, please add anything that we missed. /8
