CONFIRMED: Indian fighter jets violated Pakistani airspace over LoC. Pakistani sources say Pakistani jets repelled Indian incursion.
Incident happened about over an hour ago. Pakistani jets are on high alert. Pakistani and Kashmiri sources based along LoC reporting heavy air activity from Indian side over LoC.
People in Kashmir and Rawalpindi report Pakistani fighter jets still buzzing in the sky.
Pakistani military says Indian jets dropped payload in nervousness. Weird. Not sure what to make of this.
Pakistani citizen report on Pakistani jet activity and explosion heard in Balakot:
Indian journalist says India carried out strikes in Pakistan:
Indian air defenses along LoC are high on alert. If initial reports that indicate India may have carried out strikes in Pakistan, that means we can expect a Pakistani retaliation, which could come now or later.
The fact that Indian refuel tankers are up in the air right after this incident shows something did happen and India is expecting a retaliation from Pakistan.
Don't think Pakistani Air Force will retaliate immediately. Pakistan almost always takes its time to retaliate. Initially, we can expect some cross-border clashes between Pakistani and Indian armies involving heavy artillery and machine guns. If PAF retaliates, it will come later
Before India could claim anything, Pakistani military has already downplayed the incident, so the ball is in Indian court. If Indian Air Force holds a press conference and makes a major claim that embarrasses Pakistan, then we will see how Pakistani military reacts.
Throughout the night there were reports from both sides of exchange of cross-border fire along LoC. #India #Pakistan

Reports of heavy Pakistani fighter jet activity over Abbottabad right now. Mostly F-16s. #Pakistan
Rumor in Indian circuit is that Indian AF shot down two JF-17s during last night's incident. Again, this is a rumor in India right now and no such thing has been officially claimed by Indian military or govt yet. No word to confirm or dispel that from Pakistani sources either.

Indian media now airing video footage from last night's incident:

That's pretty deep.
Clearer footage of Pakistan Air Force in action during last night's incident:
So I'm being told this video could be old. Keep that in mind when watching this.
Indian defence sources now claim Indian AF hit at least one JeM camp in Balakot.

ANI quoting Indian AF sources says Indian jets hit a 'terrorist camp':
Indian journalist @gauravcsawant says 10 Indian jets took part in the cross-border action against JeM camps in Balakot, Pakistan:
Pakistani military releases photos of what it says is the Indian payload which it says was dropped in haste on the retreat:
That's quite a bit of effort to downplay the incident by Pakistani military. All eyes are on the Indian press conference now.
Expect incredible pressure on Pakistani military from Pakistani public for a retaliation against India following last night's incident. Pakistan is already looking pretty bad, whether Indian jets hit any important target or not. Penetrating all the way into Balakot isn't a joke.
There are going to be a lot of pissed off defence analysts and journalists in Pakistan today. I'm already hearing some of them and we will hear more outrage as Pakistanis start waking up. It's 8:30 AM in Pakistan.
Many Pakistanis are going to be asking why weren't any Indian jets shot down by Pakistani military even when they had penetrated beyond Balakot. Again, this is regardless of what India claims in its press conference and what targets it actually did or did not hit.
Indian version of CNN claiming 200-300 terrorists dead in Indian strikes in Pakistan.

PS. Even if Indian jets hit actual targets, this figure sounds a bit like an exaggeration.
Indian govt has since announced that multiple JeM camps were hit in the strikes.

There also reports of ongoing cross-border clashes between Indian and Pakistani armies along LoC.

Indian govt has briefed foreign diplomats on its action. On the other hand, Pakistani Foreign Minister has said that there will be retaliation, which begs the question why wasn't Pakistan able to shoot down any Indian jet?
Indian govt says it had intelligence that key JeM commanders were moved out of Balakot recently but it decided to hit their camps anyway.

This resident of Balakot says that one person is injured while 5 houses have been damaged due to Indian aggression.

This disputes Pakistani military claim that no damage was caused. Also, what about those photos released by @OfficialDGISPR?

Another conflicting report, this time from a BBC journalist:
India says one of the targets of its claimed strikes in Pakistan was this JeM leader, Yusuf Azhar alias Mohammad Salim alias Ustaad Gohri.
BREAKING: Statement coming from China. Beijing cautions India and Pakistan to exercise restraint.
Indian media is now releasing multiple photos, claiming that they are from strike site. Although they look super questionable to me.
CONFIRMED: There will be a press conference from Pakistani side in half an hour. I was expecting this.
Pakistan's best option was to shoot down some of the Indian jets that entered Pakistani airspace. The time to avail that option is long gone. Now Pakistan is left with less worse and worst options. So let's see how Pakistani military decides to retaliate.

Pakistani government statement advises all Pakistanis to "remain prepared for all eventualities".
These images from an Indian source claim to show what could have been hit by India jets in Pakistan.
These images are via @rajfortyseven. Apologies for not giving credit in the first tweet.
Here's the full statement from Pakistani side.
WION says that Modi was present in the sitroom in South Block during last night's incident.
Here's the full Indian statement.
Pakistan has gotten in touch with UAE and Saudi leadership re last night's Indian incursion. Remember, India was invited as a guest of honour at this year's OIC meeting by UAE.

Like I said early on, Pakistan won't retaliate immediately.
This doesn't add up with other reports from Balakot, KP.

Also, did they fire bombs or did they drop payload in haste?

Pakistani side of the story is a bit more ridiculous than the Indian side (no, I don't think India killed 200-300 militants).

So far there are several conflicting reports from both Indian and Pakistani sides. So think very hard before believing anything. Expect a lot of disinformation from both sides.
So Pakistani govt says the Indian jets remained in Azad Kashmir. If that is true, then that means Indian jets reached Balakote in Poonch sector in AJK and not in Balakot, KP.
Gotta say, that tweet by @OfficialDGISPR caused a lot of confusion. He should have mentioned if he meant Balakote in Kashmir or Balakot in KP. Blunder.
Reuters, while quoting locals, says that Indian jets missed the target by 1KM.
Another conflicting report about the targets, this one from the Indian side quoting Indian defence sources:
That video run on Indian media has now been debunked by AFP:
Scenes of celebration from India.
BREAKING: EU urges 'maximum restraint' from India, Pakistan after air strike: @AFP
More tough statements now coming from Pakistani leaders.
Statement by Australian Foreign Ministry:
Pakistani leader says all Indian content in Pakistan to be banned:
Indian Army has shared a poem on Twitter drawing a parallel between latest India-Pakistan tensions with the ancient Hindu mythological struggle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas in the Mahabharata.

Earlier today Pakistan Foreign Office summoned Indian High Commissioner to lodge a protest against Indian incursion although Indian envoy has still not been expelled (which is expected to happen soon)
PS. Obviously I meant acting Indian HC in Pakistan. India had called back its official envoy following 14th Feb Kashmir attack.
On the other hand, Pakistani military spox has said that Pakistan will respond differently. Not sure at this point what that means.
Said this will happen in the thread above...Domestic pressure on Pakistani military is increasing.
