And now for my weekend job: Black feminist science, technology, and society studies
Thanks to SUNY @ Albany Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies for inviting me to talk about white empiricism and the making of Black women physicists today and thanks to the physics department, which surprised me by having several people show up to a WGS talk!
So if, per Collins, Black feminist thought was meant to foster Black women’s activism, what to make of contemporary personal and professional disputes within Black women’s studies and Black feminist studies?
And is the connection between thought and activism necessarily confining or is it a road map for how we should orient our sensibilities about the purpose of intellectual work?
