That's not what they're saying. 🙄

He's too "light" and Richard Williams' darker skin paired with his no nonsense attitude affected how he was received by whites in the sport.

But go ahead and misrepresent the conversation. #colorism
I have adored Will Smith for 30 years of my life, but I'm pretty certain he's going to respond defensively and really annoy me.

No, you guys. This conversation about #colorism isn't going away.

It's just getting started.

This is going to get dealt with.

Long overdue.
You can't talk about how darker-skinned black people get longer prison sentences, are perceived as less intelligent by whites, are less likely to be married if they're black women and think we're not going to point out our erasure *everywhere*.

Yes, color is part of the story.
That's why I'm always tweeting the latest data on socioeconomic status and color.

Everytime they come at you with the tired "oh! So you're saying I'm not black enough" argument, you need to hit them with the facts

And keep the conversation there.
*The distribution of resources*
Because they will always try to drag you into some silly ass conversation about identity.🙄

Say, "no fool. Let's talk strictly about power, the distribution of resources & privileges".

Let's deal with that.
Nobody cares about "how culturally black you feel" or your black cred.

Not interesting.

Who's been getting the lion's share for over a century?

Some of y'all care about biracials & the racially ambiguous being able to claim "black" more than I do.

Or rather, you place more emphasis on the cultural access while I'm aiming at the power, resources & privileges.

You'll get stuck in that stupid label debate forever. A Scam.
Call yourself whatever the hell you want.

Now. Let's talk about why the "black people" who look like YOU get everything.

Higher Education
Higher paying jobs
Higher marriage rates
Over-representation in media
Shorter prison sentences
Access to better neighborhoods
The U.S. Presidency.
