/For release at 12 noon March 8, 2019: GAHB 316 authorizes the purchase of ballot marking devices that may be decertified due to design flaws shared among several vendors, including ES&S, the apparent front-runner in GA's $150M purchase of BMD's. freedom-to-tinker.com/2019/03/08/ree…
/The co-chair of the New York State Board of Elections today formally requested the state board re-examine certification of the Dominion ImageCast Evolution. So-called "ballot stuffing" and "permission to cheat" features are patents asserted by ES&S. s3.amazonaws.com/ftt-uploads/wp…
/Vulnerability first identified by Princeton's Andrew Appel (freedom-to-tinker.com/2018/10/16/des…) and confirmed by Georgia Tech's @rad_atl: “after you mark your ballot, after you review your ballot, the voting machine can print more votes on it!”
/NYSBOE memo said Dominion's responses about vulnerability didn't address flaws themselves. Georgia's proposed election law has no provision for independent analysis of vulnerabilities. This is not good news for still untested BMD technology. GA should follow NY and slow down.
/Much heated discussion on closed email groups about this development, but the NY memo makes it clear that "--absent a thorough and convincing design and code review--there is no way to be confident that the system is immune from the ballot stuffing attack."
