90% of adults struggling with substances today started using before they turned 18.
50% started before they were 15.
That’s why we made #ProjectHere available free for every public middle school in Massachusetts.
Prevention education is a huge unmet need in our schools.
Our state requires schools to provide substance use education, but hasn't given them the resources.
So back in 2017 we started using settlement money to fund prevention in school districts across MA. #ProjectHere
Then we teamed up with the GE Foundation, the @HerrenProject, @HRiAction, and others to expand our prevention programming. Today we're in nearly 300 middle schools with #ProjectHere reaching thousands of young students.
#ProjectHere is all about meeting students where they are and helping them understand the importance of making heathy decisions to avoid substance use.

Three years ago, when I filed the first lawsuit against the Sackler family, I made a promise to the families who have lost a loved one to the opioid crisis—I would expose the full truth of what Purdue and the Sacklers had done.
Today, I am announcing the resolution of our case.
Under this resolution, the Sacklers will pay $4.3 billion—$90 million to Massachusetts—we believe the most that individuals have ever paid for breaking the law.
And, due to our demands, this resolution will secure the largest public disclosure in history.
Purdue will post online every piece of evidence from every lawsuit and investigation, plus 20 million documents never given to investigators before, including communications with their lawyers. Families, regulators, journalists, public health officials—we will see what they did.
While the federal government encourages vaccine providers to ask for ID and health insurance information, people CANNOT be turned away if they do not have an ID, Social Security numbers, or health insurance. It may even be illegal. Learn more: bit.ly/id-eng
While you were sleeping, OxyContin manufacturer Purdue Pharma filed its bankruptcy plan that would hide damning documents from the public, force the govt to own an opioid business, and protect billions of its owners, the Sacklers.
The Sacklers want to use the disaster they created as leverage to buy immunity at a bargain price. Under the terms of this deal, they will walk away richer.
It's not a settlement, it's an insult.
The law requires a bankrupt company to disclose information that creditors need to make an informed judgment before a plan is approved. But Purdue says it will show the evidence to the public after the Sacklers get immunity.
NEW: We are suing Libre by Nexus, a company that built a business preying on immigrants held in federal detention centers by offering to pay for the bonds to secure their release, trapping immigrants and their families in costly monthly fees, and cheating them out of thousands.
Libre misleads families with confusing contracts suggesting they offer free legal services. In reality, it charges huge fees and hefty monthly payments that don't go towards the bond at all, even forced them to pay for and wear a GPS tracking device.
We started investigating after hearing complaints that Libre was targeting immigrants and their families from the South Shore & Bristol County, to Pioneer Valley & across Boston.
The stories we’ve heard are heartbreaking. Libre used scare tactics to cheat people & make a profit.
