BTW... there are a LOT of readers who've commented about being frustrated regarding the #kindleunlimited #scamming issues that have come more into public focus thanks to #CopyPasteCris. It's an ongoing issue...much of my info came from Twitter user Nikki. She has screenshots. Isabella Fawn/Marci Fawn on Dirty Discourse posting about selling her backlist and opening stating it had been previously published.
Many go back for months. #KindleUnlimited #scammers @amazon @AmazonKDP Readers even noticed this problem themselves as far back as 2017, if you look at the #hottakes on my blog. They didn't realize it was a buy/sell thing, maybe, but they saw the copying. shilohwalker.com/website/catego…
Some of the 'defenders' of this shitty practice, like my good friend, Bob, claim this is purely honest and ethical.

FYI, if you haven't Bob...this is Bob.

This comment was at KU. Bob has also defend his crappy crap at La Nora's blog & over @SuzanTisdale's blog. Bob Frost defending crap takes on misleading readers when books are repackaged and resold as new with no disclosure.
Funny story. "That Link" he refers to, the comments he left on Suzan's blog, on Nora's blog, all of them refer to my smackdowns of his comments. Nora linked to my moment on twitter. Suzan linked to her smackdown on Bob is his attempt to defend his crap practice on Nora's blog.
Bob showed up on Suzan's blog to peddle his shite there.

But despite multiple repeated attempts to 'discuss' with me, he hasn't done so.

In fact, he deleted the above comment.

several trolls did visit my blog, but none have attempted to 'defend' this. The most I got?
A troll telling me that since I used two pen names and since I didn't have a clear author photo (I avoid cameras...a well known fact), I was clearly a fraud and he was reporting me to Amazon. 🙄
A troll told me to try 'writing' some books.
But my favorite....Billie Jowls.
She said my 'unprofessionalism was showing'

Then used the email ... 'youreacunt'...

New comments to my blog are always moderated, so her first comment didn't go thru. That meant I had her IP and I recognized the next two. Billie Jowls, troll extraordinaire, telling me I'm a cunt.
But '*I* was the 'amateur', of course. She ranted about that in various comments, which never cleared moderation.

Anyway, getting off track. Stay with me, reading folks. I have a point here. Really!!!

These people are scammer the #kindleunlimited system and they are lying to readers.

As you can see by My Very Good Friend Bob's pic above, they run in circles defending this, but it doesn't hold up.

1) if they were being honest, they'd disclose the previously pubbed facts.
2) all the buying/selling/repacking might be perfectly legal... and it is. The copyright holder can sell that puppy for used sucker sticks if s/he wants. But that doesn't make it moral... AND s/he can't change the copyright date. That's fixed. If **substantial** changes are made
a book may have multiple copyright dates, but the initial copyright date, when the work was first established? It doesn't change.

3) trying to put a 2019 copyright in a book that was released in 2016, 2017, 2018 and not giving any disclosure is nothing more than deceptive BS.
For readers still wondering what you can do...if you can do anything... #KindleUnlimited @AmazonKDP @Amazon @JeffBezos YES. YOU CAN DO LOTS.
1) You've got a voice. Name & Shame.

If you're comfortable using your voice for this, do so. When plagiarized books show up on goodreads or amazon, we're quick to N&S. This practice is no better. Plagiarism doesn't always rise to a legal matter, but it's always a moral one.
Same here. This *SHOULD NOT BE DONE* without factual evidence of the copying/repackaging, but I've provided examples.

If you belong to #KindleUnlimted, I've walked through steps on how to easily find more. These books are *UNCHANGED*. You just highlight a passage, do search.
The authors listed on my blog's #HotTakes haven't just done this with the books I've highlighted. Those books will be easy practice runs and you can report the titles listed to amazon. Name & shame the hell out of them.

I'm actively doing it on my blog, but reviews on Amazon?
On Goodreads? Where more readers will see it? That can be a huge thing.

3) REPORT THEM to @Amazon, @AmazonKDP @JeffBezos. Yes, it's been done, but the more public awareness? The bigger the impact. Emails to content, legal & bezos are here. shilohwalker.com/website/2019/0…
A reader contacted me after cancelling her #KindleUnlimited service and we ending up chatting, then two posts went to my blog.

Reader awareness like this is critical.
And her essay that she wrote later, because she was just plain mad...

AND... you can always take a simple direct route... straight to the @FTC,

Remember how I mentioned copyright? When these #KindleUnlimited #scammers put a copyright for the current year in a book that was published in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and that book was repackaged & published
And SOLD with a new title, by a different person, with no disclosure that it had been published three other times, by three separate people?

This person is engaging in a practice with the intent to DECEIVE.

There's no other way around it. I dug into the purpose behind the @FTC
And one part of their behind is to prevent deceptive business practices that are there to defraud consumers.

That's you, readers.

And you can complain.

The steps to do so are my blog here...
@threadreaderapp unroll pretty please
**one part of their *MISSION***

Yes, this is my typo, but I'm still....
