[1] Gustave A Mueller passed away in 1912

In his obituary, it says he graduated in 1885 form U Michigan, began to work, was appointed city physician, and then held the office until 1884.
[2] That reads like a typo - Instead, he would have held the office until 1894 - at which time he went to Europe to study

He took degrees in the universities of Berlin, Heidelberg, Munich, Vienna Paris, and London
[3] Felix Hoffman graduated from Munich with his doctorate in 1893. And became a chemist for Bayer in 1894. Although he was not the first to "invent" diaorphoine (heroin), he is responsible for it becoming a product available form Bayer.
[4] Yes, I believe Gustave A Mueller was studying with Felix Hoffmann, in Munich, at the moment that heroin was being made into a product by Bayer.
