1/ I was on the train into Boston yesterday morning, & saw this post in my FB feed. Some ppl commented that it's probably shingles. Since the original post was public, I decided to investigate, bc I had a bad feeling about it.
2/ I went to the original post to read the comments. Randy Moyer himself commented "frack rash", and one of his friends commented that he knows how much Randy suffers. I wanted to find out more. I nosed around in Randy's FB profile for a little bit longer.
3/ Randy doesn't post too much, but his daughter does and tags him in public posts. There's one other mention of "frack crap" on his timeline, a hospital visit. Bear with me, here.
4/ There is a website/group for "gas vets" that gutted me:
/the men and women who work the rigs, compressor stations and pipelines; drive, clean and maintain the trucks; and staff on-site industry offices—have been ailing, ignored and dying for years/
gasvets.org
5/ Last April, I went to PA for 3 days to talk to those fighting fracking. It was similarly gutting, & furthered my resistance to any new gas infrastructure in MA, and gas use in general.
6/ So, this morning, I decide to google Randy Moyer. 😭
7/
8/ Oh unholy hell, OF COURSE they are being poisoned!

@joshfoxfilm 11/ I'm extremely upset rn, not that my upset helps anything. I'm so late to the game, & I feel like we're all still so ignorant of the true cost of gas from the extraction process to use in our homes.

ANY additional gas infrastructure in MA will create ++problems for PA
@joshfoxfilm 12/ A gas compressor in the Fore River Basin is the lynchpin of gas industry's hopes to break into MA. Without MA participating, New England WILL NOT turn into a gas superhighway for export. @MassGovernor either doesn't care or is ill-informed. Which is it, @CharlieBakerMA?
@joshfoxfilm @MassGovernor @CharlieBakerMA 13/13 I'll end w/this: /“It used to be so nice. All of us used to walk over there with our dogs. … I’d bring the kayak right up, look at the marsh...I wanted to retire down here. And now I’m not doing it. I refuse to live near a potential bomb.”/ #mapoli baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/…
