بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
1-I'm gonna write about some Saudi habits and customs in order to enlighten non Saudi people who don't understand some of them! I will start with most precious drink which is considered symbol of generosity; Arabic coffee
coffee is made of light roasted beans and grinded and boiled with some cardamom and some Safran. It's boiled in a special pot and left on low fire till you smell the magic😂i.e. the nice smell of coffee. Then the boiled liquid is emptied slowly on another coper pot called Dallah2
3- Then put Dallah for a while on low fire and serve it. You should pour coffee to the first person sitting on the right of the room unless there is a senior person sitting on the place. Here you must pour to him then starts from the right!
We serve dates with the coffee because it's bitter. We don't fill the small cup, we just put a little amount. We hold the Dallah on left hand and give the cup with right! If you don't want any more coffee, just shake the cup a little bit and the one pouring coffee understands4
5- Saudis used to leave their houses front doors open and make coffee and dates and put them at guest room which is called majlis! This habit lasts till 80s.
It's polite in SA to serve coffee and give food and some times a space to sleep without asking who you are or what do you want! If the husband isn't in the house, the wife do the same but 6
7- puts the small cup(fingan) on the top of the coffee pot (Dallah) signal of No man here. So, the guest drinks and eats and leaves!
I hope these information are helpful to understand some of our beautiful culture!
Don't hesitate if you have any question!
