Backdrop

Research shows that people are more likely to vote for what they perceive as their team’s best interests rather than their personal best interests.
Political opinions function as “badges of social membership."
Our politics is groupish, not selfish.”
The philosophy

Talk to your opponents.
Don't talk at them and history tends to reserve its sharpest judgement for those who see great peril coming and do nothing.
Prologue

The year was 2014.
The electorate of India.
They weren’t misled by Social Media trolls. They weren’t ignorant. They weren’t racist or sexist or xenophobic or homophobic or religiously intolerant. They were mad…
Because they felt left behind and ignored by the Media and the crony Govt including the super corrupt bureaucracy and so they had a point. The right wing conservatives and religious Hindus didn’t have any space or platform to express themselves...
since most of the space was occupied in the Media by english speaking left wing liberals and their sympathisers.
These faux elites made everyone believe that their views, their freedom, their choice was the ultimate…anything different was mocked, docked or discarded brutally.
Why Modi Won

Modi won bcs he convinced great no of Indians that he would destroy political correctness & bring economic development.
His victory cannot be broken down into Enlightened Angels who voted for Congress and the so called Demonic, fanatics, idiots who voted for him.
Even today Media portrays Modi supporters as stupid, blind, loud mouth bigots and dogmatic, people that can't find their way out of a paper bag.
But the reality is, most of these are the most successful established people of India who are sick of pandering to this hate group.
That's the exact dynamics of how & why Modi won.
Perhaps for the 1st time, ppl didn't vote for their own selves. He won not bcs folks thought he'd bring bread to their tables. He won bcs folks were fed up of begging & staying incapable of pulling themselves out of their misery.
In Modi, they saw a man who'd make it possible for them to become capable of bringing their breads to the table on their own, and they could aspire for better things. Without having to fritter their energies away in a corruption-choked system which just sucked them all the way.
Conclusion

Modi was a Sevak and a Soldier for them. For many he was also just the philosopher-mercenary India needed.

And I see no reason why those who voted him in, the last time, won't go for him again.
