Much of what @a_cormier_ & I reported on the Russia probe revolved around following the money

We reported a day before Manafort was indicted in 2017 that FBI probed suspicious wire transfers. Everything in our story ended up in in Mueller indictment 1/

We followed that Manafort story up with another one a few months later and noted that we reviewed emails and hundreds of pages of docs showing FBI kleptocracy unit had been investigating Manafort in 2014/2015 for money laundering but dropped the case. 2/

We continued to follow the money and turned our attn to Trump Tower Moscow. @a_cormier_ and I reported in a 4,000+ word rpt Michael Cohen lied abt when project ended and more

Everything in our rpt ended up in Mueller charges against Cohen 7 mos later 3/

We also exclusively reported about Ivanka Trump's role in the Moscow Tower project, which she allegedly lied about, and references to her role also ended up in Mueller criminal filings against Cohen 4/

We then decided to share all of our source docs on Trump Moscow publicly. We knew these docs were also obtained by Mueller/congressional committees & that the project was under serious scrutiny

We are eager to see how it is discussed in Mueller report 5/

We knew that Mueller and the FBI were also investigating alleged financial crimes involving dozens of individuals caught up in the Russia probe and even Russian diplomats and we shined a light on that when no one else could. 6/

By following the money over the course of two years and poring over docs, it allowed us to see how federal law enforcement, dating back to before Trump admin, essentially turned a blind eye to these vast financial crimes & began to pay attn when Mueller was appointed SC 7/
For example, documents related to the Mueller probe/Manafort we reviewed allowed us to shed light on how Ukraine's ousted government got away with $40 Billion 8/

Like it or not, when we followed the money we also learned that Mueller & other govt agencies were and CONTINUE to investigate suspicious financial transactions that preceded & followed Trump Tower meeting

This is just a fact 9/

The totality of our reporting on Mueller/Russia over the past 2 yrs is wide-ranging, largely document based and provides the public with deep insight into an overlooked area--financial crimes--that has only recently seen renewed interest by lawmakers and law enforcement. 10/10
I should say they are only paying attention to it NOW because Trump/Russia/Mueller and that is a damn shame
ADDENDUM: We also reported on suspicious financial transactions involving Maria Butina and Paul Erickson. When Erickson was indicted in Feb, for alleged financial crimes much of what @a_cormier_ and I had reported a yr ago ended up in the indictment

That case had nothing to do with Mueller.
FINALLY I want to make this point again: @a_cormier_ and I spoke with more than a dozen Treasury whistleblowers who raised red flags and were trying to sound alarms abt these financial crimes before Trump took office. They said their warnings were ignored
