#Brexit & political disillusionment thread...
Thought #EURef campaign would be based on facts, not lies. I was wrong.
Thought media would call out #Brexit -er lies & challenge obvious bollocks. I was wrong.
Thought UK electoral laws & systems would prevent any cheating in #EURef. I was wrong.
Thought our Government would investigate dark money, fraud & foreign meddling in #EURef. I was wrong.
Thought there would be serious consequences for lying & cheating in #EURef. I was wrong.
Thought "internationalist socialist worker" Labour would stand up for Freedom of Movement in #EURef & #Brexit debates. I was wrong.
Thought advisory #EURef would not lead to triggering of Article 50 without proper planning and risk assessments. I was wrong.
Thought #Brexit -ers like David Davis et al. would have had a workable plan for their project. I was wrong.
Thought Boris Johnson's political career would have been ruined by massively dishonest #EURef campaign. I was wrong.
Thought UK Gov & Police would have cracked down on right-wing #Brexit fascists. I was wrong.
Thought that massive anti #Brexit marches & petitions would be reported on BBC. I was wrong.
Thought that criminality & foreign meddling in #EURef would have nullified the vote by now. I was wrong.
Thought that EU citizens in UK would have had their rights immediately secured by UK Gov after #EURef. I was wrong.
Thought UK Gov would have tried to heal political divisions via compromise after #EURef. I was wrong.
Thought UK Gov would have welcomed chance to check public mood on #Brexit via #PeoplesVote. I was wrong.
Thought that, faced with #NoDealBrexit, UK politicians would have opted for #RevokeArticle50. I was wrong.
Thought that 6 million signatures on #RevokeArticle50Petition might have forced UK Gov to rethink #Brexit. I was wrong.
Thought that moderate Tories would have forced compromise on Mrs May's Hard #Brexit policy by now. I was wrong.
Thought that warnings from various institutions on #Brexit damage would have forced a rethink by now. I was wrong.
Thought my own family & frriends would have expressed concern for the predicament & future of me & my EU girlfriend/partner re. #Brexit. I was wrong.
Thought that, after 3 years, the #Brexit lies & bullshit would have stopped. I was wrong.
Well, I could go on. But what's the point? My basic message to UK politicians telling me that rethinking #Brexit would cause "damage to trust in UK politics" is this: too late--the damage has already been done.
