Another major day at the federal courthouse in #Boston for the #CollegeCheatingScandal. Another set of 15 parents are set to appear. This time actresses Felicity Huffman and #LoriLaughlin will have their initial appearances in MA. #7News
Felicity Huffman is accused of paying the mastermind, Rick Singer, $15K for his employee to proctor her oldest daughter's SAT and correct her answers. Prosecutors say her daughter scored a 1420, which was a 400 pt. improvement from her PSAT. #7News
Lori Laughlin and her husband Massimo Giannulli are also charged w/ conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. They're accused of paying $500,000 for their 2 daughters to be designated as recruits to the USC crew team—despite the fact that they did not participate in crew. #7News
Prosecutors say the couple emailed the mastermind extensively about "the game plan." In one email Mossimo wrote Singer,"I have some concerns and want to fully understand the game plan and make sure we have a roadmap for success..." #CollegeCheatingScandal #7News
The US Attorney goes on to say Loughlin and her husband decided to go with Singer's plan because he advised them their daughter's "academic qualifications were at or just below the “low end” of USC’s admission standards." #7News
Once onboard, prosecutors say Loughlin & Mossimo sent Singer an e-mail w/ a photo of their older daughter on a rowing machine & then later sent a photo of their younger daughter on a rowing machine. The pics were allegedly used to convey the idea they were skilled rowers. #7News
Prosecutors say Singer was so 'helpful' with his clients, Loughlin emailed Singer and said her daughter was "confused" on the application process as a "recruited athlete." Singer then had an employee finish the app for her daughter. #CollegeCheatingScandal #7News
Another intriguing case is Devin Sloane, founder and CEO of provider of drinking and wastewater systems. He's accused of conspiring to bribe USC’s associate AD to designate his son as a recruit to the USC men’s water polo team, but his son did not play water polo. #7News
Here's where his case differs: Prosecutors say Sloane bought water polo gear, including a ball and a cap, online. He then staged a photoshoot with his son in the water for a graphic designer to photoshop his son into a game setting. It continues...
Prosecutors go on to say Sloane sent Singer the photo of his son "playing" water polo, w/ his right arm & upper torso exposed above the water line. Sloane asked Singer, "Does this work?" Singer responded, "Yes, but a little high out of the water- no one gets that high.” #7News
The next day Sloane allegedly sent a 2nd photo where his son appeared to be lower in the water, with his torso and arm now mostly submerged. Singer replied, "Perfect." Prosecutors say in both photographs, Sloane's son appears to be using the items bought on Amazon. #7News
Prosectors say one parent even expressed how bad his son would be as a water polo "recruit" writing to Singer, "Obviously his skill level may be below the other freshmen. In your view will he be so weak as to be a clear misfit at practice etc?” #collegeadmissionsscandal #7News
Elizabeth & Manuel Henriquez (CEO of finance company) face a long list of accusations. Prosecutors say they participated in the scheme several times for their 2 daughters & conspired to bribe the head tennis coach at Georgetown for their older daughter to be a "tennis recruit."
US Attorney says the couple paid $25,000 to have Singer's employee proctor older daughter's SAT and correct her answers. The employee said he sat "side-by-side" w/ the daughter during the exam and her score improved 320 points compared to when she took it alone. #7News
Singer's employee then allegedly proctored the younger daughter's ACT & she scored 30/36. The couple is accused of then paying Singer another $30,000 (ish) to cheat on 3 SAT subject tests for the younger daughter. #7News
Prosecutors also say Manuel is a Northeastern grad and instead of paying Singer for some services, Manuel used his influence to secure admission of another Singer client. Those parents then allegedly paid Singer $250,000 after their child was admitted to Northeastern. #7News
As for Henriquez's older daughter, who was allegedly a "tennis recruit." Prosecutors say on her application, she claimed she had a "Top 50" ranking in the US in HS. Prosecutors say "at best she was ranked 207th in Northern CA in the under-12 division w/ a record of 2-8." #7News
Jane Buckingham, the CEO of a boutique marketing company in CA, allegedly paid Singer $50K for his employee to take the ACT for her son in Houston. Singer even asked for handwriting examples so his guy can match the son's handwriting. Buckingham's "son" got a 35 out of 36. #7News
The crowd outside the federal courthouse in #Boston is 20x larger compared to 2 weeks ago when the mastermind, Rick Singer, appeared. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Some of Lori Laughlin’s... fans #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
#BREAKING: Actress Lori Loughlin has arrived at the federal courthouse in #Boston. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
In the courthouse now. I’ll be waiting to speak to Loughlin’s Attorney & Felicity Huffman’s Attorney to see if they have a comment. So far, in this entire scandal, we’ve only heard from 3 attorneys & 1 only spoke to reporters in the courthouse. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
2 parents just left the courtroom. Both kept looking straight ahead and ignored my questions. 13 more hearings are left. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
JUST NOW: Lori Loughlin just left the courtroom. I asked her if she wanted to comment at all & she gave me smile and shook her head ‘no.’ #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
I then asked Loughlin 2 more questions:

“What did your daughters think when you took pictures of them on rowing machines?”

“Do you have anything to say to your fans? You seemed to have a lot of them outside.”

She did not respond to either.

#CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
JUST NOW: “No. Nothing. Thank you.” - Attorney for Felicity Huffman after leaving the courtroom when I asked if she’d like to comment. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
That essentially wraps it for these hearings. This was only their ‘initial appearance’ in MA. The judge read their charges & detailed conditions of their release. No pleas were entered. Those will come at a later date. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Looking at court documents again today. Lori Loughlin was released on $1,000,000 bail & she has surrendered her passport. Her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, was also released on $1,000,000 bail & also had to surrender his passport. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
The $1,000,000 bond has been common for this case. The most we've seen so far is $1.5 million. However, actress Felicity Huffman was released on $250,000 bond. Her husband, William H. Macy, signed for her release. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Standard conditions of release for #CollegeAdmissionsScandal:

- Surrender passport(s)
- Travel restricted to continental US
- Can't move from current home w/o approval
- Maintain/actively seek employment
- Avoid all contact w/any victim, witness & codefendants in case

The MAX penalty for these charges is 20 yrs. in prison. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
One key person in the #CollegeAdmissionsScandal we have yet to see or hear from is Mark Riddell. He was charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud as well as conspiracy to commit money laundering. #7News
Riddell is accused of being ‘The Guy’ for mastermind, Rick Singer. Court docs say Singer would brag to parents that Riddell is so good he can get whatever score he wants on the SAT & ACT. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Prosecutors say Riddell would correct students’ answers on the tests or just take the tests for them. Riddell was allegedly the 1 who corrected test answers for Felicity Huffman’s daughter. He’s also accused of taking the ACT for Jane Buckingham’s son & getting a 35/36. #7News
Court documents say Riddell even asked for handwriting examples so he can match the handwriting and signature of Jane Buckingham’s son for the ACT. Buckingham allegedly sent Singer the example in an email saying, “Good luck with this.” #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
The reason we’ve not seen Riddell: He’s pleaded guilty & his attorney appeared for him in court. The government has recommended he serve the “low end” of a max. 20 yr. prison sentence & have 36 months of supervised release. He also has to forfeit nearly $240,000. #7News
JUST IN: Attorney Gordon Caplan, parent charged in #CollegeAdmissionsScandal, announces he plans to plead Guilty. His attorneys released this statement from him: #7News
#MORE: No parents have officially entered a guilty plea yet. Caplan becomes the 2nd parent to "intend to enter a guilty plea." Peter Jan Sartorio filed a motion on April 3rd saying he intends to plead guilty. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Another parent. Jane Buckingham, also filed a motion through her attorney on April 1 saying she is "currently considering a resolution to this matter." #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Prosecutors say they wiretapped phone calls between Gordon Caplan & the mastermind, Rick Singer. Here’s 1 convo where Caplan asks, “If somebody catches this, what happens?” #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
This may be the most telling exchange between a parent & Singer. Prosecutors show the extensive concerns Caplan had with the scheme. Below he says, “This comes out — I don’t even want to know what you guys do.” #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Despite Gordon Caplan’s apology and announcement that he intends to plead Guilty Friday, there have been no new documents filed on his behalf this morning. Caplan is the 2nd parent to say he ‘intends’ to plead Guilty. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
CONFIRMED: Bruce & Davina Isackson now say they will plead Guilty & have released a statement apologizing for their actions. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
#BREAKING: 13 parents, including actress Felicity Huffman, have agreed to plead Guilty to mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in the #CollegeAdmissionsScandal. Plea hearings have not yet been scheduled by the Court. #7News
Michael Center, the former head coach of men’s tennis at the University of Texas, has also agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
Here’s the full list of parents who have agreed to plead Guilty according to prosecutors. #CollegeAdmissionsScandal #7News
