Nature, aesthetics, service, engaging the intellect.

Not all Christians are built up equally same way, but some faith traditions try to force Christians into spiritual boxes. Some commune with God best by taking a walk in nature, some through art, some thru engaging intellect.
The Christian who is built up through studying theology in more special than the saint who fellowships with God bear by taking a walk outside and enjoying his creation as they reflect on his goodness. We stifle Christian piety & growth when we create strict paradigms of piety.
From my experience, a profound degree of freedom comes to a believer when they break free of pietistic expectations and live devotional lives in accordance to how God has made them rather than in accordance to what others expect of them.
Do you feel a unique connection to God when you take walks rather than sit at a table and read?

Go for a walk, take a book with you. Walk and read if you like or just walk.

Does engaging deep theology build you up devotionally? Have at it.

The goal is God.
There are many ways to relate to God devotionally & people are not robots. God is glorified when we connect w/ him in all the various ways we, as complex image bearers, connect. There is glory in the diversity of faith expressions. Unified in Christ, diverse in how we enjoy him.
It should go w/o saying that I’m not advocating for any universalist or unorthodox understanding of God. Since I know my critics are waiting for something to pounce on; I am talking about relating to the Triune God of Christianity who one receives thru Christ alone.
