What lots of people don't understand is that lots of therapists are not well trauma-informed in the first place, and of those who are, only a fraction have the perspective to understand, accept and address epigenetic racial trauma.
And it's really difficult, because when your access to mental health services is limited in the first place, it is that much harder to leave a therapist with serious and detrimental flaws.

Better anything than nothing, is the idea. Though that's not always true at all.
It is hard enough for white people with plenty of resources and access to assert boundaries in therapy. It is that much harder for Black patients.
