1/ Now that I'm in my 40's and have just become a grandfather I can honestly say I feel totally overwhelmed by my daughter giving birth. It seems like the blink of an eye when I was holding my daughter, after supporting my wife and being allowed to cut the cord myself...I cried!
2/ As soon as I saw my daughter, during the visiting hour, I felt exactly the same as when she was born. I gave her a kiss and a hug then peered into the baby cot. The sight that awaited me took my breath away. I cried, then sat down and the synergy was evident within seconds.
3/ It's so hard to describe the pride and love I felt. As deep blue eyes looked up at me, all of a sudden, I started telling a story. Now I know babies can't see you straight away, but it was clear to see the response as I spoke gently.
4/ It was once said, " A Grandfather is someone with silver in his hair and gold in his heart."

Now I know most never want a child to grow older. But I'm really looking forward to the years ahead and talking, reading and playing with my grandchild.
5/ Alvin F. Poussaint wrote: "Grandfathers do have a special place in the lives of their children's children. They can delight and play with them and even indulge them in ways that they did not indulge their own children...cont.,
6/ Grandfather knows that after the fun and games are over with his adorable grandchildren he can return to the quiet of his own home and peacefully reflect on this phenomenon of fatherhood.
7/ And, being honest, I am truly in awe of women that have babies. I simply can't digest how a woman's body changes.

Is it possible for a learner grandfather to have such a synergy with his daughter, that it transfers naturally to the grandchild?
8/ "One of the most powerful handclasps is that of a new grandbaby around the finger of a grandfather." - Joy Hargrove
9/ I'm writing her first ever letter today, with a special poem I've written for her. It's going to be wax sealed and hand-delivered... just so her mummy can read it and keep it in her baby book.

Thanks for reading

Kind regards
