The House Judiciary Hearing has started. You can watch it live at the link below.

Warning: the comments are full of racist nastiness.

Chairman Nadler seems annoyed that the Republican members have invited those who pander to hate groups to speak.
A couple of screengrabs from the live comments.
The level of vitriol you see here is fairly common for YouTube.
YouTube is owned by Google who has a speaker on this panel.
Only 925 people are watching live. That's kind of depressing considering how many of those are racists posting in the comment section.
The ADL spoke first. The written testimony can be found here:…
The Equal Justice Society president is using her 5 minutes to outline the history of slavery and racism.…
The Facebook guy is now speaking but there's no written testimony on the House website.
He is going on and on about just how great Facebook is at rooting out racist and terroristic content.

"None of it is permitted on our platform."

"White supremacists are not allowed on our platform under any circumstances."
Now it's Google's turn at the microphone.
Ironically, YouTube has now disabled the live chat after deleting some of the more offensive comments.
Google: "Hate speech and violent speech have no place on YouTube."
Mort Stein of the Zionists Association of America is now speaking. His written testimony can be found here.…
He's blaming Muslim hate groups for the rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes in the US.
Wow, he is on quite a rant.
He was cut off when he started attacking Congresswoman Omar. (He'd run over his time limit.)
Candace Owens is now up. She's angry because she was the victim of hate crime when she was young and the press focuses on her offensive commentary instead of that.
She is blaming Democrat policies for what's wrong in society, not white nationalism.

She thinks that the focus is on white nationalism now because the "Russian collusion narrative has fallen apart."
"Reparations and white nationalism. This is the Democrats' purview."
Kristen Clarke, President of the National Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, claims that the "Black Identity Extremist" designation shouldn't exist and that it somehow distracts from white supremacy extremism.
Candace has been asked to explain "Blexit" in detail.
She claims that the Southern Strategy never happened.
Congressman Chabot is giving Owens and Mort Klein an additional platform. He has asked Klein to continue his commentary on Congresswoman Omar.
Congressman Cohen asked the ADL who gets more hate - black people or Jews.

hjweuidueduh <== me, pounding my head on the keyboard.
Cohen is now asking questions about Muslim terrorist attacks in the US.

This is a hearing on white supremacist hate crimes.
Congressman Gohmert is asking the Facebook guy why conservatives like Diamond and Silk are shut down but violent extremists can post openly on Instagram.
I'm getting a bit sick of hearing who great Google and Facebook think their Artificial Intelligence screening programs are.
A second Congressman has now asked the only Muslim person on the panel whether Muslims hate Jews.

This is a hearing on white supremacist violence.
Congressman Buck's questioning of Candace Owens is painful. He's a grown man using buzzwords like "triggering." He's asking her if she's been targeted for being a conservative.

This is a hearing on white supremacist violence.
Owens says she's never seen any evidence of racism in the circles she frequents.
Congresswoman Bass asks Clarke to expand on her comment that there's no such thing as a Black Identity Extremist. Clarke thinks it's the brainfart of the FBI (it isn't.) She think it's an excuse to divert resources (it's not.)

This is a hearing on white supremacist violence.
Congressman Biggs brought up that left wing violence should be addressed and entered a list of violence left wing acts into the record.

This is a hearing on white supremacist violence.
The chairman mentioned the vitriolic comments that were posted in the chat section before it was shut down an hour ago. Another Congressman suggested the hate filled comments were "another hate hoax."
Biggs is quite concerned that the hearing speaker list labeled Candace Owens as a conservative activist. Candace says that she gets hate speech aimed at her for being a conservative.

This is a hearing on white supremacist violence.
Biggs gave Klein an additional 30 seconds to rant so of course he ripped into Congresswoman Omar. Again.

This is a hearing on white supremacist violence.
ADL just brought up the disbanding of the DHS section that focused on white supremacist violence.

That was indeed a baffling decision.
Congressman McClintock says that both sides have lost the idea of free speech. He does a dramatic reading of a Jefferson quote.

This is a hearing about hate crimes and violence, not hate speech.
He then complains that conservatives are being silenced not because of hate speech but because they use speech that others hate.
He asks Facebook and Google which are they? A neutral platform or do they exercise editorial discretion.

It's a good question.
Congressman Richmond brought up an actual hate crime (the mass shooting of the nine black churchgoers in South Carolina.)

"Words have consequences."

He asked the tech companies if they talk to each other.
Congressman Reschenthaler talked about the GOP removing King from all committees while the Democrats didn't do the same to Omar. He called on Klein to opine.
Klein, again, talked about Muslims who have anti-Semitic views.
Klein is now talking about the Palestine.

This is a hearing about ... oh, you know.
Holy carp. Congressman Cicillini is actually talking about white supremacist violence and the role of social media companies.
Both Candace Owens and Mort Klein are now trending on Twitter.
The sole remaining Republican Congressman in the room just lobbed a softball q to Owens and yielded the remainder of his time to Klein, who decided to rant about Muslims who hate Jews.
Congressman Lieu played the tape of Candace Owens' recent commentary on Hitler.
A transcript of those comments.
Lieu discusses two programs - 1) one that provides money to religious institutions for physical security, and 2) the proposed funding cut of the Community Relations Service Office, the group that reaches out to victims after a hate crime is committed.
Candace Owens said that Lieu must think that black people are stupid and wouldn't go watch the entire video clip.

She says that Hitler wasn't a nationalist "because a nationalist wouldn't have killed his own people."
A number of the more serious panelists have brought up the need for better data reporting,
So far, the written testimony for all but one panelist has been uploaded to the Judiciary Committee hearing page. I don't know if Candace Owens has submitted testimony.…
I'm seeing a number of articles popping up on the racist comments being posted during this hearing. I saved the comments for those who are interested.…
