#Pakistan should de-link #Palestine & #Kashmir, and #Israel/#India, in its foreign policy dictionary.

The foreign policy overhaul should cover this subject smartly, rationally, and with focus on maximizing #Islamabad's gains and limiting losses. /1

We in #Pakistan have grown used to casually mentioning #Palestine/#Kashmir & #Israel/#India in a way that hurts our position, limits our options, and leads us to inaccurate conclusions and policy positions. It's more emotion and less logic. /2

#Palestine & #Kashmir are two different conflicts/disputes legally & politically, with separate trajectories, solutions & end results. Pal/Isr reached peace agreement & recognized each other in 1994; differ now on implementation. Kashmir is invasion/occupation/annexation./3
#Palestinians largely do not support #Pakistan's position on #Kashmir; are ready to accept full #Indian membership in #OIC; pulled out Amb from Pak when he spoke on Kashmir. /4

But #Pakistan is more generous; it links #Palestine to #Kashmir in every forum, without reciprocity, and often pays the price for getting involved in a distant conflict without clear objective when every state involved in Pal/Isr conflict seeks strategic benefit. /5

Having said this, let's be clear: as a #Muslim state, #Pakistan will always support ending occupation of East #Jerusalem. But this should be de-linked from the other technical issues related to #Palestinian/#Israel implementation differences, like #Gaza, settlements, etc /6
#Pakistan should not be pushing #Israel closer to #India. This is the advice of #Pakistan's closest allies, like #China #Jordan #Turkey. Isr/Ind ties are business, with India keen to benefit from advanced Israeli military technology while Pak is absent. /7

#Israel is free to pursue an economically profitable business relationship with #India, but despite India's strong prodding, Israel has been careful to inform #Pakistan thru various channels it is not working against #Islamabad. /8

While in #India to desperately try to salvage a lucrative arms deal that #Modi wanted to cancel, #Netanyahu refused to condemn #Pakistan despite strong #Indian prodding. /9

While #India hasn't succeeded so far, it is a #Pakistani interest to stop #NewDelhi from nudging #Israel to change its ostensibly neutral posture in South Asia. #Islamabad should engage Israeli policy elite to encourage a balanced Israeli approach in the region. /10

Recently, ex-Pres #Musharraf advised PM #ImranKhan to seek #Pakistan-#Israel ties to corner #India on this front, apply some breaks on Ind/Isr coop, & max diplo benefits to Pak.

"We are not a threat to Isr’s sec. Isr is no threat to Pak sec." /11

So, the de-linking of #Palestine/#Kashmir & #Israel/#India in #Pakistan policy lexicon is dictated by realpolitik, enlarging our diplomatic canvas, giving full platform to Kashmir as a 'just cause' that should attract max international support for conflict resolution. /12
