Trump is already promoting idea that Soros, a prominent Jewish philanthropist, is behind immigration. But the Judeo-Bolshevism trope — idea that Jews are the shadowy hand behind internationalist socialism — is a well worn antisemitic canard w/ a long history, including in the US.
Here in visual form is this same idea of Soros bringing in immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, and ISIS (!) to crush Uncle Sam.
Back in the day, it was Jews themselves who were the immigrants — some 2 Million entered the US around the turn of the century — and then too associations between Jews and communism stoked fears of immigration. This idea also featured prominently in Nazi propaganda.
During FDR’s presidency, ideas circulated that he was a secret Jew — “his REAL name isn’t Roosevelt, it’s Rosenfeld!” — a Manchurian candidate advancing an internationalist socialist agenda.
These same ideas were recycled decades later to attack America’a 1st Black President, who was cast as a foreigner, a secret Muslim and a socialist.
The association of Jews and socialism continues to animate white nationalists today, who believe socialism is a means employed by Jews to subjugate nations to their will, especially White nations.
This idea is also related to another far-right White Nationalist meme: Cultural Marxism, the notion that Jews are carrying out a vast brainwashing operation through academia, media, culture wars, etc. in order to undermine and destroy White civilization.
It is true that many Jews, who faced extensive discrimination, persecution, & violence, were attracted by an ideology that promised equality. It‘s also true that Jews made important contributions as socialist thinkers, writers, & organizers. But socialism is not a Jewish plot.
