Race only exists to justify white supremacy.

Racism = white supremacy. The two are synonymous.
"But I just checked my dictionary and that's NOT what racism means. Anyone can be racist"

Once you accept that race is "natural" then you reject the idea that it serves anyone in particular.

And that lets you think racism belongs to everyone.
Once you've accepted the lies that 1) race is natural and 2) racism belongs to everyone then the question of who gets to define racism becomes irrelevant.

If race is neutral, then so must be the definitions of racism.
So when someone mentions to you that the same people who decided that race was natural are also the ones who wrote the dictionary definition of racism, it's easy to dismiss this.

Because white scholarship is also presumed neutral and unmarred by "identity politics"

Also a lie.
The presumption of neutrality in white scholarship is why it is easy to reject calls to inspect the effects of white supremacy in the literal definition of concepts related to white supremacy.
"How can the dictionary be racist?" seems like a reasonable question. But only if you presume that things like dictionaries are again, neutral.

They are not.
Have you ever asked yourself why definitions that have existed in Black vernaculars for decades or even centuries are generally not included in standard dictionaries?

Or why only certain definitions are considered "proper"?
It is easy to justify the non-inclusion of Black vernacular definitions as "not the REAL definitions" if you have never stopped to consider whose definitions get to be "real"
But it's not just about vernacular. I only mention that to point out that upper class white usage of words is inherenly "proper" while other uses are illegitimate.

It's about defining the actual concepts.
Race theory was developed by Europeans and it was immediately used to define white people and ascribe them values like intelligence, justice and prowess in relation to other races.

So the definitions of racism inherently ignore the true nature and purpose of race.
What the dictionary definition of "racism" does is strip it of its context, its history, the creators of the construct it is based on, and the very specific white supremacist agenda of those creators.

But it is still accepted as neutral and authoritative.
The effect of all this is that when people of color discuss racism with white people, they become obligated to the white people's dictionary definition of racism, which inherently rejects the idea that racism specifically implicates white people.
It is a very convenient thing to be able to create a structure that inherently oppresses others and then tells those it oppresses that they can only discuss it in terms approved by those leveraging that structure.
Furthermore, white control of the definition of racism means that at any point, they can decide that the mere acknowledgement of the position of whiteness atop the racial hierarchy and the cruelty that follows is itself racist
The continued irony is that those who seek to defend white supremacy will go so far as to unofficially extend the dictionary definition of racism to mean "Anything that identifies white people as a group with particular traits common to them all"

That's why "white" exists.
So the argument over the very WORD racism becomes an absurdity.

Whiteness exists to define itself as apart from the rest of humanity and justify privilege

Treating white people as a distinct group with shared privilege is racist though.
In this way, the English language itself is used as a tool of white supremacy, robbing its victims of the words to discuss their experience.

When you control language you control discourse.
