Sure, I want to crunch the numbers and look at strategic errors and analyse tactics but that can all wait for another day. Right now, there are more important things to worry about. If you will indulge me, a post- #abvote thread ... 1/?
During Klein's era, I was a single mom of 2 young boys and a full-time university student. My family relied on the services and programs that were slashed across the board. We were helped by many kind friends (and sometimes strangers) and survived, though badly bruised. 2/
Today, me and my family will be largely unaffected by the cuts Kenney will impose but we will never forget the pain of the past and we will be the friends (and sometimes strangers) who reach out to help those who will be. 3/
Those of us who can brace for what's to come need to be making plans to protect those who can't. And those plans need to start today. Right now. Racists and bigots are emboldened today. If you see them go after someone, you HAVE to step in. 4/
Those whom they will target need to know they are not alone and that there are many of us who have their backs, even if those in charge are comfortable turning a blind eye to the hate and the threats to their very existence. They _need_ this. We _need_ this. 5/
LGTBQ2S+ folks (especially youth) are feeling vulnerable today. Reach out to them. Let them know they are loved and valued and that we are here for them. They need to hear we've got their backs. And when we say it, we need to mean it and be ready to act. 6/
And the UCP? They need to be congratulated on their win. We can show the world we are better than them by accepting their victory with grace and moving on with a steady and steely determination to fight their vilest instincts. 7/
And we need to stand together: workers', FNIM peoples, LGTBQ2S+ folk, the poor, BIPOC, the disabled, seniors, new Canadians, young people.

Divided, we are targets; together, we are a massive wall of resistance. And resist we must. 8/
If there are any folks feeling scared and alone and anxious today, reach out to someone. Your feelings are valid and there are lots of others feeling the same way today. Help each other. My DMs are open; if you need a virtual hug; I'm right here. 9/10
Lastly, to the candidates and volunteers who didn't make the winner's circle: be kind to yourself. You did your best and that's all you could do.

Lick your wounds, rest, hug your loved ones. Rest some more. Then rise to fight another day.

We need you.
