Right, we have 5 weeks of this campaign the #EUelections2019.

The @Libdems have the members, deliverers, structure, staffing and candidates to stand full lists in every region.

They have been utterly anti-brexit since the very beginning of this sorry episode. 1/
@LibDems The Greens initially back the referendum result, before switching ostensibly to Remain in 2017.
It’s not clear to me that they have the full buy-in of members and voters to remain in the EU that the Libdems do, although even the LDs have people who support Leave. 2/
@LibDems The Chuks didn’t even have a political party to float until Friday. Word is they have emailed everybody on their email list to pitch around for candidates. Quality of these candidates will not necessarily be as rigorous as it should. 3/
@LibDems Chuks have no experience of setting up a political party- they are composed of MPs who came through very rigid electoral machines where they don’t even have to collect their own nomination signatures. They fouled up their logo submission. They don’t have a structure. 4/
@LibDems @libdems are present into every corner of most constituencies. They will trudge up long driveways in all weathers, across farmyards with barking dogs, to deliver leaflets. They will speak to anyone, even people who disagree with them. 5/
@LibDems We are internationalist by design- it’s part of our values. This rejection of brexit isn’t “a position”, it comes from our core values. It’s part of our DNA. 6/
@LibDems We oppose what labour is doing right now wrt because we see it for what it is: a desperate attempt to keep both southern Remain Labour voters, and northern Leave Labour voters hanging on. The Labour position for 3 y has been to avoid having one- practised fence-sitting. 7/
@LibDems I often meet lovely Labour supporters, voters and even members who have not the first idea about the ugly side of their party- they never see it. They are aghast to hear that half my block list of 1000 is fascists, the other half aggressive Corbynists. 8/
@LibDems This is deliberately hidden from most members and voters.

Labour in its present form is not a party of Remain. Please believe that. 9/
@LibDems The LibDem candidates who will be standing in the #EUelections2019 are all very carefully selected. They will have undergone a day long selection process to become parliamentary candidates. They then have an exam and an interview to convert to stand in the Euro elections. 10/
@LibDems The LibDem candidates didn’t just walk in off an email list with minimal selection standards. They weren’t promoted or demoted according to their level of agreement with whatever the prevalent ideology of the leadership is. 11/
@LibDems Most of them have that experience of trudging up those drives in the rain. I sit within a constituency party of wonderful, supportive, experienced people, few of whom wish to stand, but all are dedicated to keeping our values flying. They aren’t doing it as a career move. 12/
@LibDems Many of the @LibDems #EUElections2019 candidates are or have been councillors. On the whole, we don’t believe in parachuting career politicians into safe seats because, well, we don’t have any “safe seats”. 13/
@LibDems Many of the parliamentary, and by extension the MEP candidates, will have run the gauntlet of council elections. They know how to run a campaign because limited means in the party mean we have to run our own campaigns, do our own legwork. 14/
@LibDems What you get is people who have walked up those drives, braved those dogs, spoken to countless people on countless doorsteps, had those damned potholes filled, gathered those petition signatures, led campaigns to have things improved. 15/
@LibDems We can be your champions. We are active. We are present everywhere. We have the experience. We have the self-reliance. We are carefully selected. We are backed by many awesome activists, constituency officers, and a dynamic team at HQ. 16/
@LibDems You won’t find a better-organised, more experienced team of Remain activists. 17/
@LibDems Vote Chukers if you want a shiny lack of campaign experience and ill-selected MEPs.
Vote Labour if you have improbable amounts of hope that they will decide one way or the other about brexit.
Vote Greens if you don’t mind that they won’t be everywhere in your area.
@LibDems Otherwise, trust us, the @libdems, the original internationalists, the first to categorically oppose brexit for the backward step it is, the experienced campaigners, to do the best we can for this country. #VoteLibdems for #EUelections2019
@LibDems The selection process is then submitted to the members, who decide the order of the list. This means the first “sell” we have to do is to our own colleagues and against each other. We’re no shrinking violets! 10a/
