The behavior that has been exhibited in this White House is beneath even what Richard Nixon did. Having said that, the practicality of the situation is that even if the House were to vote to impeach, it’s not going to pass the Senate.
With an election looming in 2020, Democrats are going to have to think long and hard about where they want to focus their attention and energy and the attention and energy of the voters.
This report, as damning as it is, doesn’t change people’s minds. The Mueller Report is a Rorschach test. People see in it what they want.
The Mueller Report is just the beginning, not the end. There are still 12 outstanding investigations. We don’t know yet what they are. They could turn out to be even more damning than the Mueller Report.
I know from my reporting in #KushnerInc that though the scope of the Mueller Report was narrow, the investigation was wide. They spoke to MANY people from countries that aren’t Russia.
There are still *many* questions about both Trump’s and Kushner’s conflicts of interest in the Middle East. We’re going to see a great deal play out in the Southern District of New York. Those are the investigations that interest me.
The very idea that we have a president and his family who came into government not for public service but for self-self service and have been on the take the whole time—THAT’s the crime that should have our attention.
