#OrmaraMassacre in #Balochistan & #Iran's role in terrorism in #Pakistan, in pursuance of a joint strategic project with #India. /1

#Thread by #AhmedQuraishi
Two days before the emergence of #Iran's role in #Ormara attack, #Karachi police busted an #Iranian terror cell assigned to destabilize #Pakistan's business hub. /2
@AQpk

The busting of #Iran-backed #Karachi cell & role in #Ormara attack shows #Tehran has not stopped its anti-#Pakistan activities after the busting of #ChabaharTerrorNetwork, a joint project with #India, in 2015. /3
@AQpk
Interestingly, the busting of #ChabaharTerrorNetwork showed that #Iran did not mind joining #India in targeting #Pakistani #Shia pilgrim buses & #Pakistani #Hazara tribe in #Quetta, likely to confuse Pak Shia Muslims & convince them to join #IRGC militias & projects. /4
@AQpk
The #India-#Iran joint role in working with local #Pakistani extremists in targeting #Pakistani #Shia #Muslims is explained in detail with evidences in a separate #Thread quoted below. /5 @AQpk
With #ChabaharTerrorNetwork, #Karachi cell, and now #OrmaraMassacre, it's clear #Iran is brining its 3-decade-old proxy war against #Pakistan to the surface. Gloves are off. #Tehran has decided to go full throttle agst Pak. I discuss possible reasons in this thread. /6
@AQpk
#Iranian people are not the enemy. #India's ally inside #Iran is the #IRGC, which bypasses Iranian govt+military, answers only to #Khamenei, is assigned to protect the mullah govt & 1979 revolution. Iran was a staunch ally of #Pakistan under #Pahlavi. /7
@AQpk
#IRGC, #India's 3-decade-old ally in #Iran, is involved in many countries & had standoffs w/them but until now avoided clashing directly w/ #Pakistan. This has changed w/IRGC cdrs open threats in Feb. #Hezbollah, Ir proxy in #Lebanon, also conveyed threats on #Yemen. /8
@AQpk
#IRGC apparently has an undeclared regional religious/strategic project. In #Pakistan, its objectives have been to weaken Pak, end Pak role in #Afghanistan, & scuttle #CPEC by inviting sect war from #Karachi-#Quetta-#Gilgit. #India is a partner in all 3 objectives. /9
#Iran-based terrorists offloaded 14 members of #PakMilitry and executed them at #Ormara. Same method was used against #Bohra/#Ismaili/#Shia #Muslim sects in #Karachi/#Balochistan/#GB, methods linked to the #Indian #Chabahar network in #Iran,hosted by #IRGC. /10
@AQpk
#Ormara-style events have occurred in the region in the past. In Aug 2018, Western tourists were brutally targeted & killed. #Tajikistan said #ISIS elements trained in #Iran executed the attack. /11

#IRGC's anti-#Pakistan policy is at least 3-decade-old, and strategic alliance with #India was a conscious decision to contain Pak in #Afghanistan while working with #NewDelhi to weaken Pak internally, ie #UzairBaloch cells. AQ Khan episode occurred thanks to IRGC. /12
@AQpk
#Pakistan policy toward the mullahs post-1979 was warm & inclusive, even if Shah was very pro-Pak. Pak took care of #Iranian consulates worldwide, shunned its allies in #Iran/#Iraq war in 80s to side with #Tehran, & helped it dodge int'l sanctions thru Pak markets+ports./13
@AQpk
#IRGC is likely to have coordinated with #Indian assets in #Afghanistan in the Apr 12 #Quetta attack killing #Hazara & other #Pakistanis. This was quickly given a sectarian color thru info ops as a fog to corner #Pakistan Govt while preparing for #Ormara attack Apr 18. /14
@AQpk
#Pakistan has had intel on #IRGC hosting & training terrorists who claim to represent #Balochistan for several months & has shared info with #Iran, incl re #BLF camps near #Chabahar. #Tehran didn't responded to this info. Similar behavior occurred post-#KulbhashanJhadav arrest/15
#Pakistan should work with #Iran the way we worked with #Afghanistan to end terror proxies. #Iran is a brotherly #Muslim country. We should reach out to all segments of #Iranian society everywhere & isolate #India's allies, cultivate friends of #Islamabad. /16
@AQpk
#IRGC is trying to end #Pakistan's age-old role in the Mideast, esp ties to #KSA. This could be 1 of the reasons why IRGC has abandoned its 30yrs of discreet policy & come out openly threatening Pak. We should make it clear that Pak will pursue its interests like #Iran does. /17
Tag of sectarianism is easily /successfully used by #IRGC information operations to block #Pakistan from pursuing its interests in #Gulf/ME. #Islamabad should not cave in, esp when #India lurks closely behind IRGC actions in the region with clear intent to harm Pak ties./18
@AQpk
#Iran & #IRGC is pursuing its interests in Mideast based on its perception of its interests. #Pakistan should not accept direct & indirect pressures to change its policies in ME/Afg to suit IRGC/#India. /19
@AQpk
#Afghanistan is another area of conflict b/w #Pakistan & #IRGC, which has been allied w/ former Northern Alliance factions, along with #India, & #US. Now that US is resetting its #Afghan policy, getting closer to Pak, this has caused concern in India/Iran. /20
@AQpk
@AQpk #Iran & #India have been trying to convince #China to shift to #Chabahar because #Pakistan is not secure. Here's Asst Foreign Min Sheikholeslam explaining this to #Indian media. He's an insider, and was one of the key hostage takers during #US Embassy siege in 1979 /21
